Easy to carry and hold a lot of sand

I purchased the play sand which it is a clean sand. The best way is to put the sand in a Ziploc bag to protect the bags, they will last longer. I added 8 pounds of sand to each side of the bag, end up with a 16 pound bag. the bag material is good as well as the strap to carry them. It has 2 zippers in opposite directions on each side, the zippers do not look like they can take abuse, but as long as you use a Ziploc bag for the sand you will never have to open or close the Zippers, so they should last for several years or even longer if you take care of them.

Perfect solution

These bags were the perfect solution to keep my 3 person canopy swing from sliding across my stamped concrete patio on windy days. The bags were easy to fill. It took two 50 lbs sand bags (purchased at my local home improvement store) to fill all the bags. The only issue I had was trying to zip the bags up once they were filled. The zippers aren't that great. It's important to not overfill the bags and to not pull the zipper too far back in the open position when filling. Doing so will make closing the bag difficult.

Works for what I need

I was needing some weight for a 10'X10' canopy and from what I found online the minimum weight per leg should be 24 lbs. Plate weights run $24 for 24 .lbs or $100 for all 4 legs.
I spent a total of $30 on these bags to include the pea gravel and some rope.

I was able to get about 1.25 cubic feet (3 average bags) of pea gravel in all 4 bags which got them all to 24 lbs. I probably can get another pound or two in after everything settles but I think 24 .lbs. will be just fine for me.

I then tied some rope to the bags and to each canopy corner.
I think it should work out.

Weights for my ring light with dslr, and canopy at craft shows!

I originally bought these to use with my tripods for photography equipment. I was pleased that they included a ‘D ring’ on each bag so it stayed put better than just the saddle. And, since my wife is not a big fan of the sand in the house, she was happy that the wide mouth zippered opening could be used to fill with bags of pennies or small weights. However, I don’t think sand would be an issue as these are really thick nylon and the inside of the pouch are coated with rubber that can be wiped out! It reminds me of something that might be considered to be ‘military-grade’.
Ironically we found multiple uses at our family picnic for these after the group picture, we used them to weight down our balloons and the small tent.

Very Flexible Weight System

I taped this to the microphone stand that I use for streaming because my microphone is very heavy. What I really like about these weight bags is that you can choose to put more or less sand into the bags to get the right weight to achieve your desired balance. Really glad I ordered this, my microphone hasn't moved an inch since.

perfect for the job!

I use these to weight down a photo booth backdrop and also for pop-up shade canopies. The work great. I would suggest that you use 2 - 1 gallon size ziplock bags to place your sand in before putting them into the packs. This will allow you to not have to work about sand leaking out should the get roughed up a bit. I have 8 of them, they work perfect.

Heavy duty sand bags!

UPDATE — I went to check on my bags outside and discovered the zippers all had broken open or never closed or the zipper broke. So sand was falling out of almost all of them. I ended to calling Amazon to return them and was so bummed about it because they’re the perfect size for what I needed them for. But they definitely need a more heavy duty long lasting zipper. If you need these for smaller things, they may work but not if you need them filled up and hold down anything of significance.

I love these sand bags. We recently moved and our new backyard is mostly pavers which makes having a trampoline difficult because I can’t place it on dirt or ground. So it’s on pavers and I was worried about it blowing away. After some research I discovered sandbags are the 2nd best thing to secure down a trampoline when you can stake it.

I bought 3 sets of these bags, so 12 bags total. I filled them each up, and now the bags weigh about 15-18lbs each. I have two of them on each of my trampoline legs and that thing isn’t going anywhere!

Glad i bought them

These are sturdy and do the job. I like the double zipper a lot! Once you put the sand in, zip the first one, then the second zipper seals in the first zipper. Flip it over once filled and it has a handle to easily carry the filled bag where you want it to go. They are made to be portable to fill and empty for easier packing on camping trips and such but I use them for more of a permanent fixture. That is why I wanted ones that were decorative. I have MS and recently bought a snack table that is made to go under the legs of a chair to hold the base of the snack table in place. My lift chair doesn't have legs since it is a solid square base there was nothing to hold the snack table steady. I filled these bags and laid them on the bottom base and they keep the table steady when I am moving the top around for various uses. And because they are decorative, they don't clunk up my livingroom.

Exceeded my expectations

Considering the price, they exceeded my expectations.

When filling them the sand I was using ended up being full of water. So I dried the sand in the oven before putting it in the bags. Once the sand had cooled to the touch, I poured it into the bags without realizing it was still around 300 degrees just below the surface. I could immediately smell burning plastic and the bags where so hot I could not even pick them up. Even with that amount the bags did not melt or deform. Which is great because I know they will hold up to direct heat from stage lighting.

The zippers appears to be decent quality as well.

The only issue is that the included carabiners are basically trash. They are not strong enough to actually hold these bags with sand in them. If you intend to hang these with carabiners buy proper ones. These will definitely break. But the bags are great.

Best addition to my studio in awhile!

Great value! These bags are heavy duty nylon material. I found the purple to be a rich color and the strap is strong and well sewed. Used small gravel inside instead of sand just because all sandbags leak with use as the sand sifts through any material. But you def. could use sand for a more flexible bag without major issue. I will probably get more of these bags to fill with sand, but will line with a gallon ziplock just for added protection. The double zippers aren't the best quality but seeing as I filled them once and will never have a reason to use the zipper repeatedly, it's fine. All is holding strong after several months of abuse. I also stenciled my name onto each. The nylon material is holding the cheap fabric paint well. Highly recommend. I will be ordering more.

Question & Answer

Question :

Are they waterproof for continued outdoor use?

Answer :

After 1 year of continued outdoor use, the sun did a real number on them and they became faded, brittle and tore

Question :

How much sand does it take to fill them?

Answer :

To totally fill all four bags will take roughly 65lbs of sand. Since most big box stores sell sand bags in 50lb bags you’ll need two and have some leftover. When filled to capacity each bag weighs approximately 15lbs.

Question :

How long and wide is one bag? It says dual 10.25x9.75 does this mean you will fill two compartments of this for one bag? Or do you have to fold 10x9

Answer :

There are two compartments for each bag.

Question :

can i attach bags to outdoor curtain?

Answer :

The bags contain a d-ring clip attached to the bag. If your curtains have a hole to fasten things to them, you could make it work.

Question :

Are the bags flammable?

Answer :

They would melt against high heat I would think. If you buy them, recommend filling them with gravel rather than sand. If left outside, rain water passes through the bag material and pea gravel let's the water drain out. I used sand last year and the bags rotted because the sand never dried out.

Question :

Does anyone know about the availibilty of bags for houlding down a "Green Screen" back drops ( A solid green bag)?

Answer :

Should work for that but would show against the green screen background

Question :

Why is plain black more expensive?

Answer :

I have no idea but we wanted black.

Question :

What do they weight when filled?

Answer :

Depends on how much you fill them up. I filled mine with small crushed rocks instead of sand. Was much cleaner that way. Not every bag weights the same because I didn’t measure each scoop. But if I had to guess it would be between 20-25 lbs.

Question :

Can these be used in a pool to help hold down ladder?

Answer :

Well I guess, you can put up to 25 lbs of sand in each bag, I'm not sure about using one under water in the pool though, but I guess it wouldn't hurt it but over time it might degrade the material and definitely the zippers!

Question :

What material is the backing material on the woven polyester? pvc or pu?

Answer :

The entire thing is made from woven polyester. There are several different weves and weights, bit all are polyester.

The only thing that may be PVC is the colored print on the front. But in mine it feels more like a rubberized silk screen than PVC.
