Very Nice
I ordered this B+W UV filter as a lens protector to replace an older filter filter that had some damage. I was leery about ordering from Amazon because I was afraid I might get a fake filter. When it came I checked the code on the sticker with the B+W web site and it said my filter was genuine. The cardboard box it came in was perfect without a scuff mark of any kind on it. The plastic box was clean and clear without a mark on it. The filter was pristine. I took some test photos with and without the filter and filter did not cause any loss of clarity in the photos. The filter appears to be very well made. My experience has been perfect.

For every lens, I buy a B+W
Been using B+W filters for 15+ years. These UV filters I primarily use to protect front of lens, just in case - spending $70-$120 to protect a $3000 lens is a no brainer. Have yet to find reason to not use, or to use another brand. If anything, I may get that new thinner one (T-Pro?) which did not exist when I got my ultra-wide lens many years ago.

Excellent haze filter
There is no point putting crummy glass in front of a good lens. You will lose any advantage of good optics. So a haze filter has a lot of uses--it cuts UV haze (the haze you might not be able to see, but which washes out your landscapes), and it protects your lens from fingerprints, dust, dirt and moisture.
These B+W filters are made from ground optical glass (Schott, I think) which makes them optical quality, not window glass quality. The filter ring is brass for easy removal (the threads are very fine on these filters and they can deform.)
I put this on my 70-250mm zoom lens, which is my best lens and one I want to protect. It's easy to clean off--something valuable when you are out in misty weather. Some filters just smear when you try to clean them--the coating on this one makes it easy to clean with lens tissue.

THE BEST UV HAZE FILTERS DON'T COST THAT MUCH MORE THAN THE CHEAPEST
I'm a big fan of B+W Clear UV Haze filters. I order one for every new lens I buy and put the filter on before the lens goes on the camera for the first time. This has kept my photos and my lenses pristine. I've tried A-B comparisons, with and without the filter to see if it degrades the photos from my Canon 5D MkIII. If anything the photos look better with the B+W filter (probably due to elimination of UV light spectrum).
Everything about these B+W filters oozes quality, the threads are clean and precise, the fit is always excellent and the optics are the best. These don't cost that much more than low cost Tiffen UV Haze filters so I never think twice about the B+W purchase.
This is one situation where owning the best is not that much more expensive, my photos are worth it!
Happy photography to all!

Performs as advertised
Barely affects color. Good for when you're using your lens in an environment where abrasive particulates, pollution, or staining material is present. Good for lenses that require a filter to complete their weather sealing. I don't use it when I don't need it, but I don't regret having it for when I do.

Almost no flaring
The small amount of extra money you will spend on this filter verses a cheaper filter is definitely worth the money. I see little to no difference in the image quality I take (I am using this filter purely as a means of protecting my lens). Even in situations that would have caused flares with my old lens filter, I have yet to see significant flaring with this filter that I would not have seen with my lens alone.
The threads on this filter are top notch and allow for a second filter to be chained (as someone who likes ND filters, this is important to me as adding an ND filter on top as opposed to taking it off and then putting on the ND filter saves a lot of time when you need that moment to get the shot).

Perfect!
Again you get what you pay for so after purchasing several lenses in various kits I decided to purchase a higher quality lens and it sure made a huge difference! In the long run I have spent 4x the money on various lens kits that didn't work so I am very happy I finally bit the bullet and purchased a higher quality lens. When I say didn't work I mean I was getting severe lens flare, rogue colors in the photos, foggy and unclear photos.
I purchased two of these lens which right out of the case is clear and scratch free. Photos have a much richer look when this UV lens is attached, especially photos taken outside. The photos are clear, bright, correct colors captured and an overall better looking photo.
Of course the the secondary main reason for the use of this type of filter is to protect your camera lens from scratches, falls, etc.
I highly recommend this filter from B&W. Please be careful when purchasing because there are fakes out there being sold. Go to B&W website and learn how to tell if its authentic or fake. I have purchased (3) B&W lenses from Amazon all of which have been authentic.

Almost Perfect!
I got the 58 mm B+W MRC F-Pro UV Haze filter on Amazon to protect my Panasonic H-HS12035 lens. I tested the bare lens (first photo) and the lens + UV filter (second photo) by photographing the beam from a below axis LED flashlight in a dark room at f4 1/200 sec. The pictures showed no ghost image without the filter (so no observable internal lens reflections) and only a very faint ghost (about 1 inch above and slightly right of the main image on my monitor) and a slight halo about the prime image with the lens + UV filter. This a VERY demanding test since the surrounding is pitch black. I have never seen a ghost nor halo in "real pictures". It is however, a very sensitive comparative test for reflections from filters. The inexpensive filters fail badly.

UV filter for Canon 50mm 1.4 lens
I bought the 58mm B+W for a new Canon 50 1.4 lens. I make certain my new lenses get a new, high quality filter when I first open the box. It fit perfectly and has the look and feel of a professional quality product. With all of the UV filter choices available it can be confusing... but there are several names you can trust. One of those is B+W. This filter matches its designated "Pro" name in build and function. The body of the filter ring is brass not plastic and the multi-coated glass is very clear and distortion free. The M/C also provides easier cleaning of the filter glass.
While $10-$15 more expensive than the lowest price filters, the B+W is one of those items you pay a bit more to have confidence that the glass in your big investment (the lens) is fully protected! And the last thing you want is a cheap filter degrading your images with distortion from poor glass quality. So spend a few extra dollars and rest assured the B+W is worth it. And you'll get the best price on Amazon!

Quality glass made in Germany...
This is likely one of the best UV Haze filters I've ever bought for a camera... if not the most expensive of that type. However, quality and precision do cost a bit more and when it comes to optical glass, you'll generally get what you pay for.
The application for this filter is to fit on the lens of a FujiFilm bridge camera and essentially provide protection from dust, fingerprints and other errant contaminants.
None of my older 35mm film camera filters are a 58mm size, so it was time to go shopping. Had I seen the B+W clear protective filter before buying this one, I would have opted for it. That said, I am very satisfied with the performance this filter provides.
It is definitely multi-coated glass as reflection and flare are virtually non-existent with this filter. That just happens to be exactly what I was looking for!
Question & Answer
Question :
Does this fit the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm F/4.0-5.6 AF-S DX G ED?
Answer :
Check the filter size. It is specified by "Ø" (the Cyrillic character phi). Each lens should have a number in millimeters following this symbol. That number is the filter size the lens will accept.
I'm pretty sure that lens takes 52mm filters, so no the filter in question will be to large. Double check on the lens itself, it will be marked.
On a unrelated note I buy all my filters "Ø 77mm" then I use step up rings for every lens. For example my 35mm 1.8 dx which accepts "Ø 52mm" has a 52mm-77mm step up ring. My 105 2.8 VR macro which is "Ø 62mm" has a 62mm- 77mm step up ring. That was my 77mm fits both lenses eliminating the need to buy multiple copies of the same filter at a different thread size. Goja makes great step up rings for about 4$. I have one on every lens I own that isn't already "Ø 77mm", but that's my personal preference.
Hope this helps, Cheers
Question :
What type of cleaner can I use that won't damage multi coating ?
Answer :
I recommend an inert cleaner like the ones you can get from Calumet Photography (Calumet Screen and Scanner Cleaning Solution). Don't use ones with alcohol. Also, when you clean the microfiber cloth, don't use a detergent with it. That can come off on your lens and leave streaks that are VERY hard to get off.
Question :
will this fit my nikon 55-300 lens?
Answer :
Yes, the 58 mm filter should fit your Nikon lens. I have a Canon camera/Canon lenses. However, I checked the Adorama website for your lens and they list the 58 mm filters as the proper accessory for the Nikon 55-300. Good luck.
Question :
does the filter have threads so i can put an orange filter on top?
Answer :
Even though most filters (unless it's a specialty thin/thin polarizer) have threads, it's best to use but ONE filter at a time. Placing a second filter over a UV filter is redundant, can vignette the corners of your image and usually will degrade the image and add to the air-glass surfaces, thus lower the contrast, create more flare and most likely add to ghosting.
Question :
What's the difference between this filter and the b+w xs-pro clear uv haze with multi-resistant nano coating (010m)?
Answer :
Nothing noticeable! The XS-Pro is the model that has replaced what called the F-Pro. I have 14x XS Pros and a number of the other. They're both very high quality, brass frame, Schott glass.
Question :
I've ordered three of these and when you put the filter against the light by itself I see these little specs of something anyone else have this probl
Answer :
I have the same problem and asked amazon for replacement. The next one they gave me is good.
Question :
Does this filter fits my Zeiss ZE Planar T 50mm F/1.4?
Answer :
Yes it will fit.
Question :
My 85mm f/1.8 creates a lot of purple chromatic aberration when shooting wide open (f/1.8). Will this filter help eliminate the purple outlining?
Answer :
I tried to duplicate your problem with the B+W filter. I noticed no purple problems with it on but slight fringing w/o.
Question :
Will this fit on a Nikon b500?
Answer :
No. This is 58 mm. I read that B500 takes 57 mm.
Question :
Will this fit a 85mm ef canon?
Answer :
YES REGARDS STEVE 1-800-221-2253
