You get what you pay for...

Where do I start? I am admittedly biased when it comes to Billingham... I've owned a smaller Billy bag for several years and have always loved the quality, durability and practical usefulness. The quality of construction and materials on this handmade product is second-to-none, which I appreciate as a certified "Leica Man" (my apologies to Ken Rockwell.) On a serious note, I recently used this bag during a vacation to haul around two Leica rangefinder bodies and 3-4 M lenses, or alternately a Nikon D600 with a 14-24 behemoth and a 105mm micro (er, macro) and 50mm prime lens...this particular bag easily housed these two configurations, with added room for an iPad and a few other small items... In conclusion, you can certainly pay less for a good bag; Billingham pricing reflects their peerless level of quality and durability, as well as an admitted premium for a prestigious name and look. Although you'll pay more for Billingham, you'll get a quality product that will last a lifetime with proper care (and will actually look better with wear and age, in my humble opinion.)

Expensive But Worth Every Penny

I have purchased more camera bags than my wife can understand...she's not a photographer. I have for years been searching for the "perfect bag". I've tried all the "Big" brands. They are all good in their own way. When I looked at the Billingham line I was at first shocked by the price. Now all I can say is the old saying "You get what you pay for" certainly applies here. The design, the materials, the construction is beyond comparison. I can fit my Nikon D610, 24-120mm f/4 lens, 70 -200mm f/4 and 50mm lens plus flash and all my extra gear plus my MacBook Air 13" (not in a separate pocket, but it fits in the from zipper compartment perfectly. I am absolutely happy with this bag!!!!

The quality is amazing, I just took it on a shoot last ...

I have wanted a Billingham for quite a number of years and made the jump recently. The description says it will hold 2 DSLR and it will if you take the lenses off the camera body. I shoot with a 6D and a A7ii with a couple of lenses and there is no way I can get them in there with any of the lenses attached (I do have grips on both cameras though so maybe they would without the grips).
The quality is amazing, I just took it on a shoot last week and everything was very easily accessible. The seller got it to me quickly and I couldn't be happier. It took me many years as a photographer to understand quality will always trump price and that's why sometimes you have to put your hand in your pocket for peace of mind.

Great bag, but not cheap!

I have a Leica S camera with a few lenses. This bag is perfect for carrying the camera, two spare lenses, a flash, and a light meter, with some accessories (e.g., filters, gray scale card, memory, charger, etc.). For the wide angle lenses, I purchased a separate divider from BHPhoto which fits the larger diameter lenses like a glove!

High quality camera bag

This is a very substantial well made camera bag, I have owned this camera bag since the mid 1980s and its still going strong, in fact I don't think I will be able to wear it out, it might be fought over in my will by my kids! It has been on many international vacations including being chewed by a monkey in Thailand to no avail. There is plenty of room and combinations for a couple of bodies and lenses, lots of pockets for filters etc. I particularly like the zipped pocket along the back of the bag its very handy for valuables while traveling. As a woman my only criticism is the weight of this bag, the strap with its heavy leather grip pad is heavy and I used to grumble about it, but now seeing how good the bag looks all these years later I see that the weight meant strength. Another feature I like is the clever design of the straps, the bag rarely tips, and can be worked from open easily, a lot of professionals use these bags in the UK. The internal lining material also is anti static, so it keeps your gear clean. This is an investment piece for someone who enjoys quality and craftsmanship.

As the old saying goes buy cheap, buy twice. Billingham bags need no introduction as they've been carrying photographer's kit around since the early 1970's. Totally handmade using the finest canvas, leather and brass, Billingham bags exude class that few other manufacturers can match, let alone exceed. I bought the 335 model to hold my full frame Nikon gear and haven't been disappointed. As well as my Nikon D600 and D810, I've managed to fit a Nikon 70-300mm VR zoom, a Nikon 18-35mm ED zoom, a Nikon 24-85mm zoom and a Nikon 50mm prime lens. Also in the main compartment I have a Nikon SB-600 Speedlight flashgun and spare batteries. In the zippered front storage pockets I keep a Cokin Z Pro filter holder, some cleaning cloths, two remote release cables (one for each camera) and a Peak Design SL-BK-3 Slide Camera Strap. In the two front bellows pockets I keep four spare camera batteries, spare CF and SD memory cards and a Gossen DigiPro light meter. I also purchased two matching Billingham Delta Pockets, in which I keep my Cokin Z Pro Full & Graduated filter sets plus a Z Pro Landscape filter kit and a polarising filter. Together, all the above kit is a bit heavy so prior to a day's shooting I thin things out to packing just what I need. Overall I love my 335 bag, from the way it looks to the amount of gear that it can store. Sure, there are many bags out there that offer more storage pockets, tripod straps and the like, but there's just something about a Billingham that "does it" for me. Expensive it most certainly is, but if you measure that against a mass produced bag from the far east, then £284.00 for a handmade bag, manufactured in the UK isn't too pricey after all. Go ahead. Buy one. You won't be disappointed.
