Delivers Thoroughly in All Respects

This was an “accidental, well, nearly so” purchase. Originally I ordered another brand, but due its sudden rise in popularity there were none to be had. Thought I’d take the chance as Amazon backed the purchase and sure glad I did. Turns out that this tripod is well made, carefully thought out, exceptionally sturdy, and backed by the company, Artcise, who appear to be aggressively striving to satisfy their customers. Even better; they actually deliver on time. Just now that in itself is somewhat of a miracle.

This single-shot specialty rifle weighs over 22 pounds which admittedly softens the recoil, but I’ve now shot it several times off this setup and I’ve never shot off a tripod more stable. Using it as a foundation for six-pound laser rangefinders and cameras of similar weight is like they’re mounted on a hundred pound anvil--or your house foundation. Yet, leveling base, head, and tripod weigh but seven pounds 11 ounces total-- well within my requirements as my use dictates. I’m really pleased with this entire setup.

Artcise AS90C “Beefy Solid Tripod”

Let me start off by saying, this thing is beefy. I do event and portrait photography and use my trusty Manfrotto 055 with a 502 head but since there are no events going on I started getting into shooting birds, from eagles to the tiny warblers. When doing landscapes I would usually get soft images whenever I use the Manfrotto on long exposures on rivers and streams. Somehow the running water is causing micro vibrations on the aluminum legs. So I started looking at carbon fiber tripods but this time I wanted one with a 75mm bowl. So I can easily level and get low shots. Last week I was shooting some Ospreys and met another photographer. He had a nice heavy duty looking tripod and I asked him what brand and where did he get it from. He said he got it at Amazon. Took a photo of the tripod and started doing my research when I got home. At the time of this writing there were only 4 reviews and didn’t see any youtube videos. I took the chance and ordered it. I am very impressed with this thing. The Carbon fiber has a nice premium feel. The largest leg tube is 40mm and the smallest is 29mm. The largest tube on my Manfrotto is 29mm. The twist locks are CNC Aluminum. Comes with a flat base and a 75mm bowl, Feet Spikes and allen wrenches and also comes with a nice carrying case. I do wish it had a ¼ thread on the apex so I can attach a magic arm or a hook. Heavy duty is an understatement for this tripod. This is definitely a great buy.

Will not move for hours-long timelapse!

1st of all, it was thicker than I expected, what a monster! I wanted a stable tripod for moving timelapse photography on an Edelkrone slide. My other tripods would move and flex as the camera would track over the rails and get off center. This one is super-rigid and will not move. I have no idea how much weight it would support, but I guarantee, it's a lot! I love the adjustable bowl. I rarely set up on level ground, and adjusting leg lengths to try to get a level tripod is a pain. With the adjustable bowl, I can setup the tripod how ever it happens to land and then I simply adjust the bowl until it's level and I'm done! The legs extend and retract super-smoothly. It's the smoothest of all my carbon fiber tripods. The tightening rings are large and comfortable. In spite of this tripod being a beast, it's surprisingly light! This is my all-time favorite tripod. It is all pros and no cons.

A bargain

I wasn't sure what to think about this tripod when I read about it. It seemed so cheap. Was it for real? Turns out it was.

I was looking for something to replace my aluminum Manfrotto tripod, which isn't as stable as I need it to be. I looked at tripods by Really Right Stuff, Manfrotto, Gitzo, and others, but the good ones were way too expensive.

This Artcise tripod compares with the best of them at a fraction of the price. It has thick carbon fiber legs and comes with two CNC billet-aluminum quick-release platforms depending on what you need. One platform is just a fixed plate, lighter in weight; while the other has a swivel bowl for easy leveling. The machining is excellent. I also bought an Artcise ball head, which is also well made. See photos.

The tripod and ball head are a little heavy for hiking, but I can live with that. The build quality for both is just amazing at this price point.

Heavy Duty Tripod

Sturdy and well made tripod. Clamping system for leg extension is excellent, intuitive and strong. Nicely machined aluminum parts and carbon legs. The bowl mounting plate is amazing for my application, since I used this outdoors a lot and I have a fluid head mounted to it that has a level, so you just get the level close as you feel like and the bowl does the rest. Hard to believe I paid the same amount for my Manfrotto carbon tripod that is half as sturdy.

Really Nice Tripod

This is a REALY nice tripod for the money. Highly recommend. Very sturdy and stable. I debated this purchase for a while but am completely satisfied. Still waiting on the Innorel l54 ballhead to match up with this.

UPDATE (09-22-2020) - ARTCISE contacted me and asked if I was satisfied. Great customer service. Unexpected in this day and age. I highly recommend this tripod for both photography and to shoot rifles off of. It continues to impress after much usage. My neighbor stopped by the other day for a beer (he's into high end photography and has a light table for processing 5X 7 negetives in his garage) and mentioned how nice it was. When I told him the price, he was completely amazed. He had guessed ~$700.00 or so. He is going to purchase one at some point & recommend it to others. It's that good.

Well Built, Sturdy Tripod

I am using this tripod for Astrophotography using SkyGuider Pro, full frame mirrorless camera, 400mm f/5.6 , 2x extender, Zwo guide scope and guide camera. The base is very sturdy - no complaints. I like the twist leg adjusters because they are much faster to deploy and break down than lever adjusters. I have never had twist adjusters loosen unexpectedly. The adjusters can all be opened and closed independently without the leg sections twisting. The bag is convenient and well made. I have zero complaints. This is a great value for the money.

Very good precision rifle tripod

I’ve spent way to much money on rifle tripods and ball heads for rifles and I’ve bought a lot of stuff that shouldn’t qualify for rifle shooting but they’re advertised as such and I must say this tripod was a pleasant surprise. It is basically a RRS clone, and it’s worth every penny of $300… so far the only ball I’ve found worth putting a rifle on is an RRS anvil 30… every other ball is poor….. you also gotta buy the best and hopefully chassis specific, rifle mount too. Precision rifle tripods is a tough thing to perfect. Just a tiny bit of play can equal 6 mils of retical play. Good luck. If you want to save a few bucks, do it on this tripod, not on a ball or rifle rail mount.

Pro level gear at great value

Artcise makes quality gear for a fraction of the price of the larger competitors. The LB52 ball head comes with two Arca Swiss plates, a very high quality soft zipper case and the head is extremely robust. Holds very firm and glides smoothly. I also have a pair of Artcise carbon fiber legs that should have cost me triple the price if purchased from RRS. Very heavy duty and definitely pro level gear. Keep up the good work Artcise!
happy customer here!

Solid Tripod and Highly Recommended

The Artcise AS90C appears to be a private brand tripod as it looks identical to another brand sold on Amazon. This tripod fulfills all my needs without the hefty price tag of some of the more established photo brands. I use mine for landscape and wildlife photography mainly with a Manfrotto MVH502AH head and I cannot imagine a more solid combination. Highly recommended.

Question & Answer

Question :

Is this tripod same as the RT90c?

Answer :

It's extremely similar, if not exactly the same (which i suspect). It's an amazing tripod, rock solid. Either will make a great tripod for you. I use the Movo Gimble on it. Killer combination. I think i ordered the AS90C because it would arrive sooner, and i'd seen a video review of it. But they're basically identical.

Question :

Is this carbon fiber tripod suitable for s rifle shooting?

Answer :

Yes.The heavy duty bowl tripod is very stable,It is suitable for rifle shooting.

Question :

What is a 75mm leveling bowl used for?

Answer :

The leveling bowl allows you to set the ball head perfectly level without having to fiddle with legs adjustment to obtain the same result. Works to about 17 degrees and very useful, especially when using a star tracker where the ball head to support it needs to be perfectly leveled.

Question :

Does this tripod come with the ice pick feet?

Answer :

No. But the bottoms do screw off, so you could probably improvise by replacing the bottoms with screws.

Question :

Just purchased this and love it! I was wondering if you sell a center post attachment that mounts through middle?

Answer :

They don't for this model as far as I know. That is the 85c tripod that has the center post. They they have different diameters (75mm vs 65mm I think). A center post makes tripods less stable, and the 90c was built primarily for stability. The 90c IS a great tripod though. Well worth the money.

Question :

Can i use this with my sony fe 200-600 mm lens? also, the compatible gimbals that i can use with this tripod?

Answer :

It would be great with the 200-600, although I prefer to hand hold that lens. The tripod has standard 3/8" mount that should work with pretty much any tripod head, gimbal or other.

Question :

suits a Celestron Nexar 8 inch Telescope?

Answer :

As long as it's ballanced, then yes. I use this tripod with a refractor for daytime fixed viewing, and it works well.

Question :

"Hi, questions about the leg angle adjustment locks. Are they a "pull" only or can you also "push" from leg back? Spring loaded also?"

Answer :

Without having mine easily accessible and going from memory I recall just being able to get the legs to move into and out the three optional angles one must pull the metal locking levers where they join the platform. I think they snap down when space allows--upon reaching the detents.

Question :

What is the weight of this tripod with the bowl ?? J.Payne

Answer :

It weighs 9.4 with the gimble I haven't weighed it with the bowl its a bit heavy for long hikes but is very solid with the long lenses.

Question :

Does this come with a fitted carrying case/bag? I don't see it anywhere in the description. Thank you.

Answer :

Yes!Includes a high-quality handbag.
