Way better than the horrible GoPro branded floating handle
Get this instead of the GoPro handle. This handle is a single peice of plastic that connects the camera to the floating part. This is important because you cannot lose your GoPro unless is physically cracks off.
On the GoPro Handler model, the mount and the float are two pieces of different materials, aluminum and plastic connected with a compression joint. No glue, no clips, no screws. THe result is temperature changes cause the mount to slip away from the handle. When this happens in water, your GoPro sinks to the bottom and you are left with only the handle in your hand. THis happened to me and luckily I found my gopro on the bottom of 6ft of murky water after an hour of diving and feeling around for it on the bottom.
This handle is one solid piece so this wont happen.

Great Floating GoPro Mount!
First impressions, this is a sturdy little mount with a pretty good seal at the bottom for storing small items. The grip feels good in your hand and the small wrist strap is also very nice. It comes with one of the longer thumb screws which is really nice as the longer ones are easier to tighten since they stick out past the camera body.
I have a GoPro Hero 3+, and I tested this prior to taking on vacation. I did a quick test using a 5 gallon bucket to see how it would float and if it could still float with my extended battery pack (GoPro Bacpac). Needless to say, this thing floats pretty darn good, even with the extended battery pack attached. While submerged, the camera hangs down at the lowest point and the bottom of the mount sticks straight up out of the water about an inch an a half. This is a good thing since it keeps the screw cap up and out of the water, preventing water intrusion into the small compartment. The yellow body improves visibility while in the water, so that's a plus. The screw cap itself has 2 o-rings, which is a neat feature.
Overall, great mount that does exactly what it advertises. Would recommend to anyone.

I've been delaying this review, hoping to get a real-world test, not just a bucket test in the driveway. Finally, I've been able to test it in more than 3 gallons of water. I received this handle after purchasing a pack of GoPro to 1/4" mount adapters which worked very well. I used one of those to make my own handle which is what I'm comparing this floating handle to.
My first test was in a bucket while washing the truck. The handle floated and held a tight seal such that no water entered the handle. The cap has a double O-ring seal which does a good job keeping all water out and makes the handle suitable for storage of small items like a few keys or maybe a spare SD card or small backup battery. I have every intention of testing different weights in this handle to see how it will affect floating.
In the bucket, I noticed the handle floated upright such that the camera was held under the water. This, I thought would be good for visibility in low light or muddy water since the yellow plug is held above the surface. After a few dunks, the inside was completely dry. So far, so good.
Submersion in car wash seems to have had no effect on the grip, seals, or wrist leash.
Later, I was able to test the handle in a larger body of water, the local pool. I realized the reason the handle was floating cap-up was that the bucket was keeping it that way. In the pool, everthing floats horizontally, making for even better visibility. I was able to take some pictures and videos, then let go of the camera without worrying about it sinking or getting stepped on sitting on the side.
The handle size makes for a comfortable grip and the rubber surface has good texture without being uncomfortably bumpy. The leash is a good length and is adjustable. I didn't realize the handle came with a leash so I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out of the box. Everything fits perfectly with my Hero+.
I would not hesitate to recommend purchase to anyone in the market for a GoPro handle, floating or otherwise. I had previously made a handle thinking I'd make one to fit my specifications, but greatly prefer this one.

I will try to keep this brief. Unboxing: It feels nice, solid & well built. It mates with the GoPro style mounts perfectly. Speaking of GoPro, they could learn from this fastener! The GoPro fasteners are kind of squarish shaped. They work OK. This fastener is about the same size but the end is more of a wing nut type of shape. That makes it easier for wet, slippery, or cold hands to tighten without effort.
It is slightly longer and I believe the same diameter than the grip I had been using and that is perfect. It is a better fit for my man hands, and being the same diameter, someone with a smaller hand wouldn't know the difference. An added benefit for the longer grip is slightly better buoyancy. That might make it easier to spot if you throw the camera to someone a distance from the boat. Not sure yet I have only used it in the pool so far.
I also love the grip itself. I don't think it's silicon, but it has a nice grippy texture. It's great for sunscreen covered hands! My old grip is smooth plastic and the grip would just squirt out of my hand. I like that the removable cap on the bottom of the grip has 2 o-rings. That should ensure everything stays dry if you take it deep.
The elastic lanyard with an adjuster will be nice for diving or anything else when you're wearing gloves. Will definitely prevent it from accidentally slipping off.

Have not tested the float ability yet. It is a little smaller than I expected but that is irrevelant. It has a screw cap with internal storage.
