This kit saved my cheap speed lights

This kit saved the cheap speed lights I bought for my Canon camera. As a very amateur photographer I thought it would be nice to have a couple of speed lights to use with my Canon 2000D / T7 camera. My intent was to use two or three off camera for some product photography. Figuring I wouldn't use the speed lights very much, I bought cheap speed lights that were listed to work with my camera (the Canon T7 does not have the usual hot pin to fire the flash but uses e-ttl instead). Since the kit I bought came with remote transmitters and receivers I figured everything would work happily together. I was wrong. The trouble is I didn't have time to really test out the speed light kit as soon as I got it. I missed the return window by the time I got to testing and realized I had a problem.

For months I thought I had a speed light kit that simply wouldn't for me and I'd have to try to sell it. When I found this Godox transmitter/receiver kit I wasn't convinced it would be the right thing and it cost more than I would have liked as an experiment.

It turns out this kit is exactly what I need. My cheap camera and speed lights now work great together and I can make all of my flash adjustments right at the transmitter. This is even better than I had hoped. Looking back I wish I had paid a little more for the speed lights and bought lights with receivers build in because this new arrangement ended up costing me more. I'm so glad this Godox trigger kit worked out and saved my nearly useless flash units.

If you find yourself in a similar situation buy this kit, it works very well.

Work great!

These are great. I bought these for my speed lights and then bought two Wistro AD200 strobes and they must connect auto instantly. I went to connect a strobe and turned it on and the trigger and to my surprise and didnt do anything. Don't know what the range is on them but who stands a hundred yards from their lights?

Works like a charm and is wayyy cheaper than the Canon brand

Easy to set up, battery life indicator on screen is super helpful. Used these for a rather important studio gig that required me to have a portable studio. I paired it with the the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT and it worked flawlessly with little setup. I also used it to pair some neweer strobes at the same time and it all worked with no problem.

Great kit for OCF with Canon cameras

I needed to trigger my Godox AD200 pro off camera as well as shoot with my Canon 580 EX ii and Canon 430 EX ii on my Canon 5DM4 and 6D for a wedding. The X2T-C TTL and XIR-C worked flawlessly. I was able to manage triggering the AD200 remotely while bounce flashing the Canon speedlights on camera with different manual settings. The build is great and the products were well packaged. Would order again!

Set-up is the key. Don't rush it.

"Heck, I don't need to read the manual!" Yeah, actually I did. Once I finally got it all figured out, it's a wonderful piece of kit and it makes off-camera flash really easy. YouTube videos helped a lot, but the gear itself is fantastic. Get it!

Question & Answer

Question :

Can I change the flash strength of the slaves from the transmitter? Or do I have to change the slaves on the units themselves?

Answer :

You can adjust everything from transmitter

Question :

Will it work with Neewer NW680 hss flash?

Answer :

yes

Question :

Does it update automatically from the camera settings, or do the settings have to be entered into it?

Answer :

It depends on the flash unit you're using. If the flash unit does TTL, it'll work just fine. If not, the trigger won't do TTL independently.

Question :

I need to trigger slaves with 2 camera bodies. do I need to purchase a second transmitter?

Answer :

You can trigger Godox flashes with either a radio transmitter or with another flash. So no, purchasing a second transmitter isn't strictly necessary if you have at least two flashes.
