Returned my LumeCube Panel Go

Having been initially swept up by the sleek LumeCube marketing videos, I made an impulse buy on the Panel Go. Though it delivered as promised, I realized there might be other options out there. For the cost of one Panel Go, I got two of these IVISII G2 RGB lights (the name sucks) and have been blown away by their versatility. The build quality is phenomenal and though they’re larger, thicker, and noticeably heavier than the LumeCube, I feel like these things would last through an apocalypse. They both came with a similar length USB-A to USB-C cable and the battery life was about the same. Here are the differences:

Pros of the IVISII over LumeCube
- WAY brighter
- RGB lights + cool effects
- Color range (cool to warm) is greater
- the built in articulating arm doubles as a sturdy stand removing the need for a tripod
- I like the tactile on/off switch instead of having to hold the button down on the Panel Go
- comes with a carrying bag
- comes with the 1/4 20 attachment where the attachment on the LumeCube was an additional $20
- I love that you can navigate between the three settings (white, RGB, effects) and it remembers the last setting of all three functions. The LumeCube also does this but only has temperature and brightness
- finally, you can mount this to anything and rotate to any position. If you’re shopping for a panel light, you already know how important lighting is and getting that perfect angle is effortless with this light

Pros of LumeCube over IVISII
- smaller, thinner, lighter and more suitable for pocket transport. I also think this would be much more comfortable mounted to a camera or a hand device over long periods of time. For my purposes, the IVISII lights are almost always stationery so I didn't need the portability
- comes with the silicon diffuser which was nice for closeup face shots
- has a color LCD on the back instead of just the regular mono-color LCD, though I don’t really miss this feature on the IVISSI
- packaging is way nicer
- the name is way better

I do wish the IVISII could plug into my computer so I could download more than the 9 built in effects. Specifically, I'd love to have a “fire” effect that looks like a fireplace or an explosion. I’m not sure if the USB cable is just power or if there’s some sort of interface with the computer chip onboard so that down the road I could update the software but I’m guessing not.

In summary, if you want a light that can do all the things the Panel Go can do plus more at half the cost (and you’re ok with the bulkier, heavier weight), you won’t regret this purchase.

A smaller and better option than the light saber

I attended a photo class shooting with colored led lights. I was inspired to repeat the shoot, but the items we used were very expensive and heavy to carry around with stick and lightsaber type devices. I searched for a more portable and practical option. I ran into this portable device. As soon as I opened the item I noticed it was not made of some cheap plastic. It comes with its bag and the shoe mount as well as a aluminum attachment to the led housing that gives you options for external attachments light a mic. It has its pros and cons but most importantly you have options to attach more tools to it however it does give you limitations, this did not stop me from buying another . I loved it so much I decided to invest in another and invest in 2 mobile stands and a case that I can carry both lights and it’s accessory’s. I had a mobile battery charger and added this to a case to have a back up source if the light ever dies out I can connect the battery and be able to use the LED. I would highly recommend this device for a cheaper, portable and useful option. Instead of stick that cost hundred of dollars and needs to have a constant electrical source. The creativity options are endless I look forward to creating more cool colored lighting shoots in and out of the studio.

More versatile than I initially realized.

This is probably the best value RGB LED I could find out there. I found one that was slightly cheaper, but to change the hue (color) you had to dial in three different specific values to get any certain color. This LED simply cycles through all of its colors super fast. Just that alone was worth paying the ten extra dollars for.

Then it has this hinge-arm. At first I just figured it would be slightly helpful in turning in to certain angles on a light stand, but its uses are pretty amazing as I continually use the light. Sometimes I'll turn the arm backwards to make a clip of sorts to hang it on things to provide light from above. Or even clip onto my shirt's neckline when I am in a pinch and I now have this Iron Man-like light source beaming off of my chest. LOL.

The arm even makes for a nice leg stands for the light to point up on its own.

WHAT A BATTERY!

When I first bought this, I was excited yet somewhat skeptical of the battery life. may times lights pull a lot of power and I felt that I was going to have to constantly keep it plugged in. THIS IS NOT SO IN MY SETUP.
I use this in close proximity to where I sit for Zoom meetings. My brightness is set on 6-7% with 3100K using CCT. I fully charged the battery and unplugged. 6-8 hours later of continuous use ut finally came on the first line in the Battery icon... YES, THE FIRST LINE. I can't be happier
The color is perfect to keep a good skin tone and not cast any hard shadows. I am about ready to buy a second one to create fill light.

Portable and powerful - this pocket video light HOLDS a punch.

Item was well packaged when it arrived.

Pros:
- Light emitted was adequate and better than other same market type/price rgb video light.
- Controls for ambient light color change is well designed and VERY EASY to operate.
- Controls were very sturdy and well built. (I will update in the future with continuous use - so stay tuned)
- 4300mAh is a plus for power output and also for longer use.
- Used in full power for 48 mins. ( wanted an hour but i had to leave). Did not overheat or had any issues
with continuous consistent lighting. ( it does say 2 hours battery life - I will test and update in the
future).
- Build quality is superb ( unlike NEWEER SL-80 or LUME ) this seems to be more bang for your buck and
made of an aluminum/steel like casing and your LED lights wont crack from a minor drop or a sudden
impact from using it for a live action shoot accident.
- It comes with an aluminium/steel like mounting bracket, cold shoe bracket, charging cable, protective
pouch, and manual/instructions.

Overall i am very satisfied with this buy and actually returned other RGB portable video lights that i purchased. This is the only one that was really gave enough light emission, hassle free operation, and ease of use to mount and unmount from my smallrig case. THIS IS A GREAT BUT for the on the go photographer and videographer and of course for home bloggers/influencers.

Awesome light, now camera and action

For an inexpensive LED light it exceeded expectations. The interface gives a clear read out of light temperature to match white balance. Easy to adjust brightness. Brightness goes from a soft fill to Alien abduction. The adjustment knob is easy to reach and has a good range making it easy to dial in the perfect exposure. It has a nicely milled frame that can mount on cinema cages or fits in a standard camera flash shoe. You could get three of these and use them for three-point lighting for a small studio space.

Well built - good addition to the gear bag

This is not my first portable LED light. it is bright and well built. Overall impression out of the box is good. Still adjusting to the controls compared to the other LED lights I have. The bracket on this is a welcome addition compared to the others I have that just have a 1/4-20 threaded hole on the sides. I do wish it included a better diffuser than the hard plastic built-in version it has. A white silicone diffuser that slips over it would be a great addition to this. Happy with the purchase so far.

Great photo or video light

Was Leary about an LED panel like this for photography and some video, but it has won me over. So much so I ordered another one. Being able to adjust the warmth of the light is huge for me. Battery life is outstanding.
I have used it on the hot shoe and mounted on a tripod.
Great buy and value

Forget a bang for your buck. This is an explosion for your buck

Absolutely more than I expected. Currently using for my streams. I at first figured one light might not be enough, boy was I wrong. This light has so many option for any user to choose from the only possible negative is that the light could possibly reach a too high of a limit to be legal in most areas. For anyone looking to get a versatile light that doesn’t take any room you can’t go wrong here. Don’t even get me started with the non standard modes.
