Consider the shorter length option

This thing is really well-built and easy to use. If I could do it again, I'd pick the shorter length. 30"+ is a lot of travel and I rarely used 75% of the length while shooting. Even though the longer length wasn't much more expensive, it left me with the following challenges:
- Harder to transport
- Less room in tight spaces
- Harder to keep the rails out of the camera's field of view for shorter zoom-in pans

Great entry/mid level slider.

This slider is worth the asking price. I paid $110~ for the 100cm version. It is built in a higher quality than its price suggests. It is not a pro-level slider by any means, but it functions great for my personal use when I don't have access to my studios pro gear. I just got it and played with it for 20 minutes while the wife was working out. (see video). I shot the associated video with a Sony a6400 and a Sony 50mm/1.8 lens (a great lens for any APS-C Sony camera). I didn't do any stabilizing in post. The video is basically untouched other than chopping the clips into a sequence.

As I said, I have only had the slider for a few days and only used it once. If there are durability issues in the fuiture, I may update the review if I think of it.

Finally, no wobbly, perfect size (23") slider.

This is my 5th slider. Thanks to Amazon easy return policy, I returned Imorden 40", Ulanzi SL-40 and Grip Gear's Movie Maker. I am keeping this one along with an Edelkrone Wing 3.
Here are three reasons why I am keeping this slider:
1. Built quality is superb and there is no wobble (stay way from Dolly types).
2. Short, light and portable. I believe 23" is more than enough to create great cinematic footages and this slider needs just ONE tripod. Try two tripods and see how painful it is to setup and move them around.
3. Most importantly, it's buttery SMOOTH. There are no plays in the track head (others do, unfortunately) and tracks.

In many ways, this slider is much better than 3.5x more expensive Edelkrone Wing 3 ($250). The load is much higher and Wing 3 only yields about effectively 12" slide length. Please see my video that was shot with Pansonic G7

It's a great & affordable slider. Simpler = better

Coupled with the manfrotto 504 head this thing is incredibly smooth. Previously I had been using a slider built for much heavier cameras made of solid metal, So the difference is night and day for weight. I was able to shoot without any stabilization in camera or lens on long focal lengths (100-200mm macro) for detailed product shots (video) with spectacular smoothness. Especially given the price. A note: definitely opt for the shortest rail size if you intend on center mounting. We have this mounted at the base with two screws on a long tripod plate. This makes the connection point very stable. At $100 this is a no-brainer.

When it comes to sliders I have found that a simple design is better. Less weight, fewer components to break.

Butter smooth slider.Super light and great build quality.

Havent tested it out on the field but, from my quick tests done at home this seems to be like a really solid slider. The plate runs butter smooth even with a heavy DSLR+Lens combination(D750+Tokina 16-28 f2.8).Even though you could get away with mounting it on a single tripod, there is noticeable wobble and flex from the weight as you move the slider to the sides, so I suggest you get a 2nd tripod or invest in a pair of solid stands so you can mount one under each side to provide a completely flat surface to slide on.Having the 4 rotating feet is a big plus, because you can set it on a flat surface or on the ground which will give allow you to have the smoothest slides.Im also glad I went with this Carbon Fiber version because it is as light as a feather.I have bought several photo/video equipment from Neweer and Im completely satisfied with their products, despite the fact that they are the cheap alternative to other more renowned brands.

Smoothest slider because it has 6 wheels not 4 like others

When looking to buy a cheaper slider you want one like this that uses bearings and not the ones that use friction. And this one is the best of the bearing based sliders because it has 6 total wheels and not 4 like the others. 4 wheels on the outer side and 2 on the inside. This is a huge point as it makes it SO much smoother than the others on Amazon. Plus the rails are carbon fiber making it so light you can easily mount on just a single tripod.

Unless you are getting a motorized slider, this is the best economical slider to purchase. Don't let the low price fool you, this is an incredibly smooth manual slider with great quality parts.

happy so far

This looks for the most part just like the ikan slider. I don't know if it's real carbon fiber or just wrapped. Not knowledgeable enough to comment on that. But having bought the ikan slider, I think it's the same slide feeling. Now, I was impressed by a few things comparing this one with imorden (not carbon fiber one), ikan and neweer (not carbon fiber). But my set up was like this: on the floor, not on tripod (not 1, not 2); motorized (diy). I tested it for push in very very slow. Result: does the job. And it is more then 50% cheaper then the ikan one. The one thing I realized (new at this) is that carbon fiber is better then any other metal for bearings. It feels smoother when you manually push the camera on it. Definitely will aim for anything carbon fiber slider wise in the future if I need an upgrade. The slider arrived ok. Aside from tiny dents on adjustable feet and on middle plate, the rails are 98% smooth. Toward the end of rails I sense a bit of roughness (barely) when I touch with my hand. Doesn't show in footage. All sliders I've bought and returned had dents or scratches (not affecting quality) so this was not a reason to return this one. Price? I don't think there's a better price for carbon fiber slider when on a budget. And surprisingly I am not compromising quality. Again I have not used it on a tripod, do not intend to. I am using it for slow push ins pull outs. If I ever need it elevated I will use two tripods. or three. I have not seen any jumps wobbles in footage. Have nothing to complain. In fact I am at peace now that I got this slider, when I see that it looks just like ikan (side note, my ikan piece had problems with one leg and screws seemed not right) No problems with feet on this one. The previous neweer not carbon fiber was not smooth enough, and I couldn't get the 1/4-3/8 adapter off. On this one it's easy. I thought maybe neweer copied the ikan one. but now... not so sure. Anyway, this is a good buy! 100%recommend.

Neewer’s Best Slider

Just a great, well made, manual slider. Extremely smooth, and the 60cm is the perfect size for a single tripod, if that’s what you’re intending to use for mounting. I’ll probably update this with a video, because coming from Neewer’s own 120cm track slider (the one with a single metal plate rail), this is heaven. There’s a reason this basic design is used on high end sliders (two poles, don’t know technical terms); the metal beam doesn’t allow for smooth sliding.

The slider comes in a soft carrying case. It’s usable for me because I’m not a traveling professional, and it will suffice for transporting it in a car to and from locations. The materials used for the rails and the plate seem durable, as far as I can tell, and the sliding plate is large enough for bigger cameras. This is a huge deal, because even with a small SL2 and utilizing only the 60cm middle portion of the other slider, the camera was ripping the mount from the tripod, which is a very sturdy, professional video camera tripod. This slider doesn’t spin around as I use it on either end, so it’s as stable as your tripod and/or ball head.

Overall, probably my favorite purchase on Amazon in quite a while. I’ve been ordering 10+ supposed high quality products a month, so that’s saying a lot. If I ever upgrade this, it’ll be a $1000 motorized Rhino slider, anything in between won’t necessarily be an upgrade for most people. Do not skimp and pay $20 less for a given length for a cheaper entry-level slider. Just my two cents.

Been needing one for a while now!

Probably my only concern is locking it down and tilting the tripod down with the camera on it. It could come loose and I'm afraid over time it won't lock down at all. Otherwise this slider is great! It's smooth, light, strong and mounts sturdy on a good plate. Make sure to use multiple screws and if possible use two tripods, especially with heavier camera gear. Definitely won't work with professional cinema equipment, I would say stick with 10lbs or less unless you plan on keeping it flat all the time. I would recommend for indie projects and I even plan to try and hike with it for some outdoor nature filming (if you're willing to lug the awkward size it's not so bad...)

First slider. Very nice "for the cost".

I have admittedly not used any other slider before, but deliberated for quite a while on which one to order, and scoured reviews for quite some time. For the money, I couldn't be happier with the purchase. It looks great, is very well made, and is quite smooth. But like anything else, it's a tool, not magic. So it definitely takes trial and error and several takes to get the pace and consistent tracking that you'd desire. But I imagine that's the case with any manual slider. You are also going to really want a decent fluid video head, so you can smoothly pan or tilt the camera as you slide.
As others have said, the tension screw really doesn't control tension. It's either moving freely or locked. No real in-between. But I don't feel that's a real problem, because you want the smooth, free sliding action. Again, it just takes practice, especially when trying to move it slowly.
I can't really speak to durability as I haven't had it long, or used it a ton. It's clearly not professional grade given the price, but it feels like it would hold up just fine with moderate use and care.
But considering how long I waited to pull the trigger, I am completely satisfied with the look, build and feel.

Question & Answer

Question :

what is difference between red one and this one? only color?

Answer :

I owned the 80cm slider which similar to the 60cm with a folding feet. The difference I can see from the red slider you are referring to is the size. The red one is only 40cm which is good for short slide and very portable but the feet are fixed (do not fold).

Question :

is there a way to somehow flip the 4 legs over and add 4 long legs to turn it into a overhead camera slider gig?

Answer :

The legs actually loosen and can spin around 360°, so you can position the existing legs however you want, and tighten them into position. Then, the adjustable feet of the legs simply unscrew all the way out, and you could then screw back into those threaded holes whatever you want (of the same size/threading, of course), if you can create some sort of longer legs to attach. I do wonder how you'd do all that and keep it stable, but in theory anyway, you do have options.

Question :

Is this wide enough for neewer 3-wheels wirelesss camera video auto dolly

Answer :

Yes it is

Question :

What is the diameter of the carbon fiber rods?

Answer :

3/4"

Question :

should the screw on the plat should comes out ??? screw fall out is this normal ???

Answer :

I believe you should be able to change the screw depending on the size needed for your camera, but it shouldn't just "fall out"

Question :

what is the material of the ball bearing? plastic/metal/rubber?

Answer :

The rollers are nylon but the bearings are metal

Question :

Do you need two tripods to slide the camera? or just one?

Answer :

Yes, You could use just 1 tripod. But not a cheap tripod. Something that is sturdy.

Question :

Is this a manual slider?

Answer :

Yes..manual but nice and smooth.

Question :

Is this motorized? Do i need someone to do my shots or can i just program and it goes by itself

Answer :

Manual, no motor!

Question :

Can i fit a sony fs5 to this slider safely and securely?

Answer :

Yes you can
