For the price you can't beat it
I have a full in home photo studio with strobes and some high end gear as I work part time as a photographer. I am just beginning to figure out the joys of using speedlites on location rather than shlepping the strobes all over the place. But not being sure whether I am fully commited to the multiple speedlite idea, I didn't want to commit to really expensive modifiers to go with them. So, I did a quite a bit of review reading and research and finally landed on this softbox umbrella.
This is a great modifier. It is super easy to set up and break down and seems like it will hold up for a little while. I am not expecting a very long life from it if I use it extensively but at this price point I wouldn't expect it to last for years on end and you shouldn't expect that either. Camera gear is notoriously and ridiculously expensive so when I see something good that doesn't come with a premium pricetag I am grateful but I also put my expectations in line with the price. if this lasts years, I will be thrilled. If it lasts just a year I will be happy. If it breaks tomorrow I will come back and edit my review and let you know that.
I set this up with a three speedlite ring (FWIW.... I spent very little on the mount for the ring and it was awful.... sometimes it pays to invest a bit more... the mount practically ruined the shoot) and it performed flawlessly giving nice even lighting and beautiful circular catchlights. A few days after that test shoot I used this thing with my studio strobes in a client shoot and again it performed beautifully rendering the sort of light one would want from this set up.
BOTTOM LINE: for the price this is a remarkable piece of equipment that works with speedlites as well as studio strobes. I have no idea how long it will last but if it breaks early on in its life with me I will update this review. For now I think this is a great inexpensive alternative to more pricey modifiers if you are just getting started or want to test things out. Highly recommend.

So easy to store in compact spaces.
So I love it. Probably should use flash setting and not continuous light with studio strobe because another reviewer said the white rod holding mechanism melted and he couldn’t close the umbrella. I love the fact that I can close this soft box in seconds and store it in a compact area or carry it with me on location without pulling tight wires from a soft box right just to make a compact. You’ll need to be careful with it because it is more delicate then a sturdy, square soft box. I love it and I can’t wait to buy a larger one for my studio.

Very good for the price
This is a low-cost light modifier with specific design features. It is an economy model, so will not have the durability of a unit costing three or four times as much. However, it is excellent for beginners or those not requiring daily use.

A good portion of coverage.
diameter size is wide enough for a good portion of coverage. blends evenly into my background without casting shadows. the white side reflects the light from my vision strobe fully in a softer tone, makes for some very lovely photographs.

Five Stars
If you just need this, it is definitely a great choice for umbrellas. Easy to set up, reflected light scattering is pretty good, I will buy it again.

Nice diffused umbrella for studio work
Works well and is portable. Provides nice even broad light. My only complaint is the attachment of the diffuser around the light is a little awkward and not very secure. It slipped off my light during a shoot and the string that fastens it melted against the bulb I believe. I"ll be finding something better to secure it with before long. But I like the umbrella and the light it povides. Good Quality, Good Price

Question & Answer
Question :
Is the white diffuser removable?
Answer :
No, the white diffuser is not removable. Also, don’t know why it says it is collapsible because the center rod is one solid piece.
Question :
Will these work with continuous led (cob) lights?
Answer :
yes. that is what i use
Question :
How strong are the ribs of the umbrella? Tired of an umbrella getting bumped and the ribs get bent.
Answer :
I would say (without much to compare them to) "average." They aren't flimsy, but they can certainly be damage accidentally. I'm guessing only very high-end umbrellas would be really resistant to accidental damage, but if damaged, would cost much more to replace.
Question :
Is the shaft a 7mm?
Answer :
I've never measured the shaft. But I can tell you it fits all of the standard umbrella mounts and adapters I've ever used.
Question :
Is this ad for both umbrella and diffuser? Thanks in advance
Answer :
It's a softbox umbrella, the diffuser is attached to the umbrella. It's easy and nice.
Question :
Is the shaft 7mm?
Answer :
Yes just over measuring with my calipers 7.5mm
Question :
Are the rod tips plastic? I had these and broke easy. Once 1 breaks that is it.
Answer :
They are made of metal and if you take care if them, it will lasts. Make sure you open them slowly because the roads are not that rigidly made
Question :
What is the total shipping weight?
Answer :
I'm not sure of the shipping weight, but the actual weight in it's storage sleeve is 13.5 ounces, or 383 grams.
Question :
Can it work when the flash is mounted in a Bowens mount bracket?
Answer :
Yes, it has a drawstring opening in the center. You can open it to slide the mount and close it behind. I use a speed light and it works fine with the Bowens bracket.
Question :
Is it comfortable with Einstein light?
Answer :
Yes, it will work but your Einstein would be inside the softbox and most likely overheat. If you took a few shots then removed the soft box to allow it to cool off I think you’d be ok.
