The best gear cases I own!
I am a longtime, satisfied owner of several Pelican cases. They're rugged, watertight, and have protected my cameras for years without a single failure. This new 1500 case has a nice addition--stainless steel grommets now protect the padlock holes. As with all my Pelican boxes, the pick-and-pull foam makes it very easy to customize the case to your gear--see my photos. The eqg crate foam inside lid conforms well to objects which project slightly above the foam base. In total, there is about 4.75" of (padded) depth to accommodate items inside this case. I have also devised an easy way to remove lenses using a short length of nylon webbing--see my pic in the image gallery.

Pelican Cases Are The Best
I've bought them over the years for every thing you can imagine. My only four pieces of advice are this:
1) Always buy one size larger than you need. Don't go too conservative. More space is better than not-enough of it.
2) Save your money on the *spare* foam unless you're convinced you'll need it.
3) Always buy a case with foam inside it. Being able to "pick and pluck" to customize is awesome.
4) Before picking and plucking - remember that old saying: measure twice and cut once. Take your time and do that step right. It'll make the difference between total customer satisfaction and being upset at yourself.

Great rugged case perfect for housing your camera gear!
I bought this case to house my Nikon camera gear for whitewater rafting trips. There is virtually no other way to protect your gear on a whitewater raft than with this case and its the only way I would ever trust that much gear in any box.
Here is what I was able to fit in this case with adequate padding: (See my customer uploaded image)
- Nikon D7100 w/35mm 1.8 lens with hood
- Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 lens with hood
- Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 lens with hood
- Nikon SB-910 Speedlight flash
- Remote flash transmitter/receiver
- Flash diffusers
- Battery charger
This case has housed all of that gear on different rafts for over 21 days getting splashed constantly on Class III-IV rivers without any leakage.
The only incident I had was when the case was strapped low in the boat and got completely submerged under about two feet of water for about 10 seconds as we went through a very large rapid. Since the case was strapped down it was submerged entirely the whole time until the boat drained out. When I opened the case there was just a hint of water that had entered the case through the seal on one side but it didn't get anywhere near my gear and everything else remained dry. Since then I no longer strap the case to the floor, but I would trust it to keep my gear dry still even if I did.
I use this case on or off the boat since it keeps my gear very secure and I don't have to worry about being super careful with it. Definitely recommended if you are a serious photographer or need a serious case for serious conditions.

Great case for transporting anything delicate or you need secure.....
Really happy with this purchase. Recommend laying out the foam with a marker (lots of YouTube videos that show best way to do this) and then CAREFULLY cut using a long knife - I used a 12" serrated bread knife. Needed to put foam back into the holes to take up space so I wouldn't gate any up/down movement so I sliced the newly removed foam in half using the knife and it was a challenge with all the small pieces that wanted to disconnect - take your time and be careful. Videos recommend spraying the foam with Plasti-Dip so the foam keeps it 'edge' and doesn't wear away - I have not done that yet but will if it starts to wear the sponge. The case is SUPER sturdy. lockable, damn near indestructible and made in the USA. I purchased mine on a GoldBox deal and an very happy with the purchase.

Great Case, Excellent Humidor
All Pelican, Errday. Seriously though, Pelican makes the very best products out there and this is no different. I use this case as a bomb-proof humidor that just doesn't need much maintenance. I like cigars, but I'm simply not interested in working for the perfect smoke. Rather than the typical cedar box that doesn't work so well, my rig is as follows:
1x Pelican 1500
2x Spanish Cedar Cigar Tray, Compatible with Display 5 or the Display 7 Cigar Humidor Models, by Quality Importers
4x Boveda 62% 60g pouches (with 4 extra to cycle in as first 4 are being recharged)
1x Analog Hygrometer by Western Humidor
Lots of cigars
Stays proper for a good 2 months between recharges with perfectly humid cigars every time.

The. Best. Period.
I mean, it's Pelican - it's going to be 5-stars. And I'm not saying that because I'm biased, I'm saying that because I've used Pelican cases both professionally and for my own personal use for many years now and have yet to be disappointed. This case did not disappoint. As with all Pelican cases the construction is rock solid; the case locks tight and is supposedly waterproof (although I haven't personally tested this one yet). The Pluck-N-Pull foam is also great. I used it to customize this case for a remote ham radio setup I have. Using the Pluck-N-Pull I was able to create what looks like a custom case for my gear.
As with most things, you pay a little more for the quality, but that's exactly what Pelican is - quality. I highly recommend this case.

High-quality Pelican case, of course!
When it comes to cases, you get what you pay for - and this case is worth it! Solid construction, snaps closed very firmly; I'd trust it to protect my gear if it got dropped, and protect it from the rain.
I use this to store my Borg 76mm refractor, which perfectly fits the width of the punch-able foam with all accessories after the focuser removed. There is also room for the clamps, the long and short tubes for attaching 2" and 1.25" eyepieces, and one of those little Televue red-dot finders.
The foam squares are easy to remove to customize the shape of the foam to perfectly fit your gear. I'd recommend removing them in chunks because it's easier, and then you can put them back in later if desired.
Highly recommend!

Now that is a case!
I have been toting around weapons for 25 years as a shooter and trainer. NOTHING comes close to a Pelican case! They are more than worth the price. You get everything you pay for and more. You truly can drive over them. The 100% warranty is for real. They stand behind their product. You can easily adjust the foam interior to cushion your weapon, mags, trikets, ect. Will be the last case you every buy. I have four in various sizes. I use and abuse them with wanton abandon and ruthlessness. They are hard to scratch or dent and clean up nicely with Armor All. I have banged and bashed them with expensive firearms inside. My toys were fine. You would be hard pressed to find a better value than a Pelican case. When you take these to the range they will be admired. Get ready to answer a lot of questions. Make excellent secure storage for firearms left in vehicle. Put several locks on the case then run a heavy bicycle cable through the locks and around the car seat support. Same thing in hotel rooms. Here I run the cable around the plumbing under a sink. They come in various colors for those who do not love everything black.

More than happy with the quality
I bought one of these for a friend for Christmas, never seeing one before personally, only going from read reviews and what I know about their coolers.
This thing is great. Nothing is cheap. Very solid. The handle feels great in the hand. It's most definitely water proof. Will buy some in the future for myself. There's a lot you can do with these things.

Question & Answer
Question :
does this case come with the foam insert?
Answer :
Yes, case come with foam.
Question :
I need a small, very portable case for light days: Canon 7D + 70-200 IS + Sekonic L-478DR + PocketWizard III. Should I get the 1400 or 1500 series?
Answer :
I have a 1510 Pelican case with the padded dividers. I can hold my camera, a 100-400L, 70-200, 35mm, and 24-105 plus extra batteries and chargers. I wouldn't be able to do this with the foam, and to be honest, it would be a total PIA having to deal with the foam when pulling my camera gear. My 1510 is not light by any stretch but it does have a handle and wheels and is carry on compliant for all airplanes. if the 1500 has or you can get the padded divides, I would suggest getting them. makes life so much easier. (I have the foam in a gun case, which is why I say it would be a PIA with my camera gear)
Question :
How many rows and columns of pick'n'pluck is there, and how deep is the pick'n'pluck section?
Answer :
The removable pick & pluck insert is approx. 17-1/4" wide X 11-1/2" deep by 3-1/2" thick. There is a 1" border on the insert Making the actual area that you can pick & pluck 15-1/4" x 9-1/2" x 3-1/2". The pick & pluck section is 30 x 19 x 7 cubes which equals 3,990 removable foam cubes that are approx. 7/16" square. See link for further details http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail/Case/1500/
Question :
I've been trying to find a protective camera case for my nikon d3200 and i have a big 500mm lens. will that fit in this case with some others?
Answer :
Should fit nicely!
Question :
can it fit a 17" laptop?
Answer :
If the external dimensions are under 17" X 10.25" it will be a VERY tight fit. Note that the internal dimensions don't account for the curved corners.
Question :
Could I fit 2 camera bodies and 3-4 small lenses in here?
Answer :
I can put my two canon 60D's in there with 2 580EX flashes and that is it... if the lens are truly small it may work, but then you couldn't fit anything else. I have to carry my light meter, battery charger, etc... in my other bag. hope this helps.
Question :
If the 1500 case goes overboard, will it sink or float? Fully packed, how heavy is your case?
Answer :
Depends on how much that fully loaded weighs. just guessing i would think it could keep 12 - 15 lbs afloat.
The case is fairly light. Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon and the case will roughly displace 2 gals worth of space, so 16 lbs would probably be a safe estimate.
Question :
Would this fit a Coonan Classic 357 1911 w/ 4 Mags?
Answer :
This case is probably a bit large for just one hand gun and mags.
it will fit with room for a couple of bottles of water and then some.
Question :
Does this Pelican Case come with pick and pluck foam? or is it pre-cut for a camera set-up?
Answer :
We didn't need any foam, so we removed it and stored it - somewhere. But Darling Wife remembers it being made for an SLR camera and extra lens with some extra cubbys for film/filters, etc. The current description in the Amazon description says "Pelican's Pick N'Pluck foam lets you customize the interior." But it doesn't matter. It's foam rubber, so you can use a single-edge razor blade and cut out any shape you need whether it's pre-cut as a camera case or not.
Question :
I am looking for lid organizer (files, documents) Do you know where to get it for Pelican case 1500?
Answer :
Plenty if different vendors. A search on any number of websites will reveal what is available.
