Nice step-up ring

Unfortunately, the filter I bought this for does not play nice with my lens, but this threaded adapter ring worked perfectly to secure the filter to the lens. The best way to use these adapter rings is to first turn the adapter counter-clockwise on your lens, pushing down only slightly, until you feel a slight "click" as the threads settle in together; then, you can tighten it down. This will help you get the adapter square with the threads and help prevent cross-threading. (I have done this with most threaded fasteners I have ever worked with, and haven't stripped one yet.)

Easy way to fit a 77mm filter on a 72mm lens.

So stupid me ordered the wrong ND filter for the lens I wanted to use it on. Tried to exchange and no response... i was thinking I had to buy a second filter, but wait, is there an adapter.... Boom this guy pops up and saves the day. Careful how tight you put it on, it can be a little tough to grip to get off. But the 77mm filter worked great on my 72mm so for now the problem is solved. Best money I have spent to solve a problem, plus now, since Indid not exchange the ND filter I can use it on my 77mm diameter lens and with the adapter it works great on my 72mm diameter lens too.

Great Price and Great Product.

I was about to spend a small fortune on two polarizing filters when I realized that the Goja 58-77mm Step-Up adapter ring was the way to go. I ended up purchasing only one Polarizer (77mm) and I purchased the ring to use with my 50mm lens. I'm so glad I found this item. It's inexpensive and it does the job.
I will be purchasing more adapter rings for my other lenses soon and I will stick with Goja.

Well-machined Lens Filter Adapter

This lens filter adapter ring is great! It is well-engineered and the material feels premium.

I bought this because I wanted to use the same 58mm lens filters for all my lenses. I certainly didn't want to buy doubles of my filters for different sizes. This adapter ring solves that in one well-made solution. It fits on perfectly on my existing (Samsung NX300) 52mm lens, and I was able to use my 58mm filters with it once the adapter was on.

Get an adapter and stop buying extra lens filters. Recommended.

Pro grade quality at amateur price!

There's not much to say about this, (It's just a ring adapter) but I wanted to mention it for anyone thinking about buying one. It's a great, pro-grade ring. It is metal; aluminum to be exact and the threading is superb which is the most important feature on one of these rings. I bought mine for my 50mm prime lens. The front diameter (of the lens) is 52mm and I needed it to be a 58mm to be compatible with my macro filter lenses and other filters. This 52 to 58 step up adapter ring does a superb job. It's built great and goes on smooth. WARNING: Just be careful with any/all rings and filters. Don't get in a hurry. Slow down, put the ring on slowly and make sure you are not cross-threading. That shouldn't happen with this because it is precision made, but if you get sloppy and rush it you can screw it or your lens threads up. Just common sense stuff. Otherwise you will be completely impressed with this ring. Pro grade quality at amateur price. Enjoy!

Great product.....gives new life and purpose to old filters.

I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ70 60X zoom camera which uses 55mm filters. I have an older Pentax ESII camera from the 70's that still works, but is just kept for reasons. It uses 49mm base filters and a couple of accessories lenses uses 58mm. These extra filters have just sat for the last dozen years or so. I bought this step up ring to be able to us e the filters (UV, skylight, morn/eve, cloudy, and polarizer) with this new camera. Some reviews of other rings mentioned poor machine, bad threads, poor silk screening, etc. so I was hesitant to order. But I figured for the price........nothing to lose.

All my concerns were groundless. This product is excellent. The appearance is excellent, the quality is good, the threading is clean and precise and it works like a charm. I now have one of my older filters as protection on the front of my new camera's lens and will be able to use my varied assortment as desired. (I had also made my own soft focus, spot focus, and other filters as well) Now I can use all these.

If you have filters readily available and need something within a reasonable range to fit another camera I would highly recommend this product. If you needed to change several sizes, the operation and appearance may look ungangly, but in my case I was only going up one size so the appearance is hardly noticeable. It allows me to use my several hundred dollars worth of filters for only $3.95. How can you go wrong with that?

Great Cheap Adapter!

This is going to be a quick review of the Goja 52mm to 58mm Step-Up Adapter Ring from the Goja company, and sold on Amazon.com.

It's going to be quick because, well, this does one thing - gives a 52mm lens 58mm threads. Quick and simple, and it seems to do the job well. I've threaded pretty much anything I could think of onto it that I have - lens covers, lens hoods, filters of many types, etc.

For $3.99 you can't go wrong. Hey, it's a piece of aluminum - it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg as long as the threads are good quality, which they seem to be.

Some reviewers on Amazon mentioned uneven finishes, and plastic construction; neither of which this one has. I wonder if perhaps other size conversions might be plastic.

This one black anodized aluminum (I assume, it's very light) and the machining on the threads are even, cut well and precisely, at both ends. It easily screwed into the front threads of my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens, which has the 52mm threads on the front of the lens, with no play or looseness. Same with the accessories I screwed into the other end of the adapter. No problems whatsoever.

Plus it provides a little extra protection on the end of my lens, especially for the short little Canon EF 50mm lens.

Of course you don't want to get right on it and screw it down real tight, whether it's a cheaper ring like this or an expensive one.

The shipping itself was quick, and it came in a padded envelope. The shipping was free, I might add. Seldom the case for a company selling through Amazon.

There's also a bonus lens cloth seems of seemingly good quality, a welcome addition always. In fact, it's quite nice. 'Magic Fiber' was the brand name shown on the cleaning cloth.

I probably will order more from this company, Goja, maybe to adapt to other lenses in the future or perhaps some filters. They have quite a few items.

Works as Intended

I'm using this on a Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 to enable me to use a 77mm polarizer; the filter thread on this lens is 67mm. This step-up ring works perfectly and it's very well made out of aluminum. It cleanly and precisely screwed onto the filter thread on the lens and the Nikon polarizer cleanly and precisely screwed onto the step-up ring.

Not much more to say; well made and works as intended. Very pleased.

Solid, precise, worth the $$

I use these for both large format film photography, as well as time lapse with Sony cameras . . . and they work super well! Really precise, have never seen any issues in focusing or IQ in post. NOTE: as with any step-up/down ring, DO NOT over-tighten your filter to the ring - or the ring to the lens. Just spin until slightly snug, and you'll always be in the clean.

Step up filter ring works great

The step-up ring is super thin and fits like a glove to the filter and the lens. I did have a bit of difficulty removing it when I tried it on the first time. After that I try not to tighten it too much, just snug and when using the CPL filter I got in the opposite direction so no more tightening will occur.

Question & Answer

Question :

how do get off with this, I could not get off from my lens?

Answer :

I have used filter removers.... there are some here on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=lens+filter+remover+wrench&sprefix=lens+filter+remover%2Caps%2C193&crid=2ZKUHRY9EQX33

Question :

i have the sony a5000 kit lens which is 16-55mm i have a 40.5mm nd filter...would this step up ring fit for my camera?

Answer :

If you have a 40.5mm female thread on your lens then this step upring has 40.5mm male threads that go into it and on the other side of the step up ring there are 49mm female threads so you can screw a 49mm filter into the stepup ring. I use this on my A6000's 16-50mm lens so I can use 49mm filters... whether you can use it while using a lens hood is another matter, worst case you need a 49mm lens hood.

Question :

With a lens that takes 40.5mm filters are you losing any lens optical quality by using an extender with 49mm filters.

Answer :

Anytime you place a piece of glass in front of a lens there will be some loss of optical quality. That's basic physics. If you're asking does it make a difference using 49 mm filters with the adapter ring instead of 40.5 mm without the adapter ring the answer would be: not perceivable. You'll have a much better selection of 49 mm filters and can use them on other lenses <= 49 mm.

Question :

Can this be used as a step down adapter ring for 77 mm filter to 72 mm lens?

Answer :

Yes, that should work. The outer thread of this adapter is 77mm female so the 77mm male thread of the filter should fit into it. The inner thread of the adapter is 72mm male which should fit the 72mm filter thread on a camera lens (I assume you meant 72mm lens filter thread, not 72mm focal length lens).

Question :

Will this adapter fit on a Nikon Coolpix P520 I just won one don't know much about it. I would like to put a filter on it to protect my glass.

Answer :

Putting a filter (UV, polarizing, etc) to protect the glass is normally a good idea on a SLR/DSLR type camera, which have remove-able "normal" sort of lenses and are threaded to accommodate filters. However, when I looked up pictures of your Coolpix P520 online...it doesn't look like a "normal" remove-able lens, and I couldn't find a photo of it that showed any threading at the end of the lens, nor did I see any reference to the lens size. From what I'm reading, it looks like what you've got there is a digital point and shoot type camera, a good one, but not one that is going to accommodate filters. So, that's all I can come up with on a quickie search, you should contact Nikon about your question. Sorry couldn't be more helpful..good luck!
Also, to clarify this product doesn't have any glass to it, its just a sizing ring to connect a 52mm lens to a 58mm filter. In my case I had some old 58mmfilters that I wanted to use with my new camera, so this adapter allowed that to happen..screwed the 58mm filters to the adapter, and then the adapter to the 52 mm lens.

Question :

Does this fit on a 52 mm lens so you can use a 58mm filter?

Answer :

Carol, I don't believe there is such a thing as a 52mm lens. What you are looking for is that the threading for a filter, lens hood and cap matches your lens. For example, my 28 mm lens and my 50 mm lens for my Canon A1 film camera both have threading for a 52mm lens cap, filter and hood. So therefore I would need a 52mm step ring to adapt to the 58mm filter. That is why the 52mm-58mm step ring works for me. Just look inside the lens cap for the lens you are using and it will tell you the size you need for sure. On a lens meant for a digital camera, which in some cases may be used on film cameras, the size in mm for a filter etc, will be printed on the front of the actual lens as well (where you find the type of lens, the aperture etc). I hope this helps.

Question :

Would this fit a 18-55mm lens? I don't know alot about how to deteremine which adapter will work.

Answer :

Yes it will fit. To determine which will work for your lens understand this... The first number in a 52-58mm step up ring is the size of the diameter of your lens in millimeters. If you are not sure on the diameter of your lens look on the inside of your lens cap. They are usually stamped on the inside. An 18-55mm lens should say 52mm on the cap. The second number is the size of the filter you can use. In this case you can use a 58mm filter. So the first number is lens diameter, second number is filter diameter.

Question :

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 which is EFS 18-55 mm. Which size do I purchase so I can put on 58mm lenses?

Answer :

"Step-Up Adapter" allows a user to put a bigger filter on the lens. i.e.If you have a 58mm filter, and a lens that is 55mm in it's filter size. You can put the two together.

Question :

Does this fit on a 50 mm lens so you can use a 52mm filter?

Answer :

No, If you mean that your lens takes a 50 mm filter. If you mean your lens has a focal length of 50 mm, then it must have a filter size of 49 mm for this step-ring to attach to a 52 mm filter.

Question :

Do you know when i use this adapter with 67mm lens and 58mm filter, will there any dark area at corners when wide angle zoom?

Answer :

That depends on the focal length of the lens and the filter thickness of the 67mm filter. I used a 20mm lens and there was very slight vignetting.
