Perfect addition to my camera

I bought this to use with my Canon 5D Mark four and start practicing with off-camera flash techniques./Is great for off-camera use with a 24 x 24 soft box and it also works fantastic as it is intended as an on camera flash. I like the fact that there's multiple adjustability with it and that is really intuitive to use. Just note that if you're using this off camera then you will need to have a trigger in order to fire the flash with the camera. I bought the Canon trigger and everything works flawlessly.

Excellent Flash

I still need to learn how to manually use this flash but Ettl works great. AA batteries lasted a long time. I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Very happy shooter

I had a 430 ex ii that I managed to burn out and replaced it with a Chinese version. That worked well but was never consistent. I finally had some spare cash for this beast and wow am I impressed. I've used it on both my 7D and my 6D with the 24-105 L and also played around with my 70-200 f2.8. I am so happy with my purchase. I can't wait to try it at my local track for wheels up launches at the lights.

Best Speedlite on the market and an indispensable tool for EOS photographers

A brilliant Speedlite, the best Canon has made, and I think the best currently on the market. I have three, and if I had the budget, I'd buy three more tomorrow. Combined with the ST-E3-RT transmitter, setting up complex lighting arrangements is a snap, and all easily controlled right from the back of the camera. (Background for frame of reference - I moved up from 580EX II and 430EX II Speedlites, and have never used the original 600EX.)

The Speedlite is very well built, weather sealed, and powerful. Throw in a set of eneloop batteries, and it recycles very fast. Since getting my current set of Speedlites and transmitter, my strobes have yet to leave the studio, and have sat quietly more and more frequently in studio. The freedom, and the creativity that allows, granted by the Speedlites makes using them so much more enjoyable.

You can find much cheaper flashes to be sure, but it's hard to go wrong with the Canon's for quality, reliability, and integration with the EOS system.

Great capabilities for a flash

I am a nature photographer, I love the possibilities this flash brings to my photography. As you can see from the picture of a gliding frog, it brings movement. I own several other flash units but this one has the capabilities I was looking for and it is easy enough to operate in order to get these kinds of pictures. The opportunities to bring movement into my pictures opens a whole new world.

I have had this for a week and so far I am pleased.

BEST CANON FLASHES

I am in LOVE with these flashes. They talk to each other so I don't have to have a bunch of transmitters/receivers.

NO INSTRUCTIONS?

WOW! I'm blown away by how well this works. Interestingly though, it shipped without instructions of ANY KIND, not sure if that's normal but I'm well versed enough to figure out how to use it. Other's may have huge problems with that.

Great speedlite. It's a bit larger than the Altura it was replacing, but it fills a room more and with whiter light. So worth the extra money.

Question & Answer

Question :

Do this flash work with a Canon 80D?

Answer :

Yes. The 600EX II-RT is the best flash canon makes. You'll never outgrow it. It has more capabilities than any of the other Canon flashes. Also, buy the canon remote for off-camera flash. You'll notice the difference.

Question :

Can I shoot continuously? What is the recycle time?

Answer :

Speed shooting wasn't a feature that I was looking for when I bought this, but I have tested it in single shot and high speed modes. My testing was done using "Default" settings, both camera and flash with Panasonic BK-3MCCA4BA Eneloop AA 2100 Cycle Ni-MH batteries. In single shot mode, the flash fired as quick as I could press the shutter button, I'm guessing less than 1/2 second between shots. In high speed (6fps), it drops the ninth frame just about every time, but picks up where it left off and it's just a one dark frame, i.e., no pause to recycle before it flashes again. I'm not sure how long it would keep this up. I stopped after 20 seconds or so. Reducing the power, to say 1/4, or using an external battery pack or power supply would probably help, but depending on your shooting conditions, that isn't always an option. I used an EOS 5D mark IV & EF 50mm f/1.8 lens with the flash zoom range set to 50mm.
Canons specs vary too much for me and probably include an average recycle time of every scenario they could throw at it. I mean 0.3 - 5.5 seconds on high and 0.1 - 3.3 seconds on low? To me, that is too wide a range to get any real world info from.

Question :

Does this work on a Nikon D850 camera?

Answer :

No. It works with Canon equipment only. Nikon has their own Speedlites.

Question :

Is this made in china?

Answer :

Yes, it is...Made in China.

Question :

Does this flash compatible with Canon M3?

Answer :

Yes it is .

Question :

Does defuser come with it

Answer :

yes

Question :

Can you fire the flash without a transmitter off camera from the canon eos r? Or do you need the ste-3

Answer :

I don’t think canon has a radio transmitter within their cameras yet. So the answer would be yes you would need the radio transmitter.

Question :

Is this compatible with canon eos rebel g?

Answer :

It might be. Call Canon.

Question :

Does this flash have the ability to shoot in rear curtain when off camera using a canon e3 trigger?

Answer :

According to the 600EX II-RT manual, page 32, 3rd bullet at the bottom of the page: "Second-curtain sync is not available during wireless flash photography." I guess there is always the chance the manual could be wrong, but I bought the 600EX II-RT in Jan. 2019.
I've read that some third party RT triggers work with the 600EX II-RT and other Canon RT speedlites. This has been a question asked by many SCS shooters for a while, yet no answers from Canon.
I have no practical experience, so I can only say what I've read while researching wireless SCS.

Question :

Does it work with the flashpoint ttl r2 transmitter?

Answer :

No it doesn't. To be honest, I can't get this flash to respond to any other flash/strobe...even in optical slave mode. It will act as a master to the Yongnuo 600 though.
