My Favorite Flash

I love this this gadget. Although I have the Godox 400pro and Godox V860ii, I found this as the “Goldilocks” flash for the majority of my work in the last 3 months. It is light (weight), durable and relatively affordable. Coupled with the Godox XT2, and a MagMod Softbox, it is my always-ready lighting kit for grab-n-go assignments. Buy extra batteries however. Been having recycling issues after about 200 pops (not full power)!

Get one!

I was really skeptical about buying this light but having shot my first wedding with it the skepticism changed to gladness. This is the best small light I’ve had. Battery life is awesome. Power output is more then enough for one light formal portraits. Love this light.

GET THIS TRIGGER OR HSS WONT WORK

This is one of THE BEST portable flashes I have EVER used. It works awesome and does what it’s supposed to. However, there is one problem, not with the flash though, you HAVE to get the right trigger in order to use HSS to its full capacity.

I am using Panasonic GH5. I ordered Godox Xpro-o trigger, it was letting me click pictures upto 1/500 shutter speed and there was banding(half dark half flash) photos anything over 1/500 shutter speed.

I returned that trigger and got Godox X2T-O trigger and now I am able to click pictures at 1/8000 shutter speed with no banding.

Just get the right trigger. Get X2T trigger.

After my first shoot the charger reported the battery didn't need to charge!

I waited far longer to upgrade from my old Alien Bees to these Godox units, despite hearing from many photographers about how great they are. I was skeptical about battery life, and it's always hard to spend money on something when I already have something that does the job. But I had a great year and when I had a shoot that required longer strip boxes than I've ever used before I found some really good ones with Bowens mounts. I knew that's what most Godox shooters are using, so I decided it was a good opportunity to finally do it, and I'm glad I did!

I also purchased one of the better remotes (model escapes me at the moment) and I love how flexible they are and how I don't have to walk to each light anymore! I'll definitely be adding at least another couple of these to my kit this coming year.

Speedlite on steroids

I'm not sure how much brighter than conventional speedlites this beast is, but its virtually instant recycle time allows me to shoot portraits, using a soft box, just about as fast as I can press the shutter button. I tend to engage my subject in conversation while I'm composing a shot and then capture the image when I see an authentic look/pose/expression, and sometimes these opportunities occur in rapid succession. I've often found myself waiting for a speedlite to recycle and missing shots, or getting underexposed shots. Not so with the AD200. It's ready to fire whenever I'm ready to press the shutter. Plus, it's relatively compact--not much bigger than a speedlite.

Love it very portable

I already own the AD600 Pro and love it but needed a second light that had TTL & HSS. This AD200 Pro is perfect for my needs as a Portrait Photographer. I'm not sure why so many complain about the manual there are only a few functions that control the light. Check on You Tube for the simple set-up videos. Someone else said HSS sync didn't work I assume he had a trigger that wasn't compatible. HSS works flawlessly in Manual and in TTL with the Godox Xpro-S controller. Spring will be here soon I can't wait to get out and get some photoshoot going Love this Godox AD200 Pro light.

That this flash is totally mobile and packs plenty of power for it's power class and price

I liked the easy to use functionality of the flash, the interchangeable flash head adapters and and it's size. Cons of the device are the Godox AD200 does not have the small little slots that secure tripod mount securely to device like in the AD200 Pro. It can seem a little shaky when mounting and please don't try to over-tighten the screw trying to make sure it's secure on the tripod or you may cause damage. I purchased the AD200 before I purchased the AD200 Pro so I was unaware that the AD200 Pro had made the subtle change to the mount. These flashes work great in tandem and since I'm a professional photographer these two power-house flashes have become my new travel companions. Also must mention that if you shoot outdoors in daylight you will be in for a thrill once you reach into the high speed sync functions of this flash.. Simply amazing..

A wedding and senior photographers Dream

This product is a must for photographers that need great dependable light and portability. The light quality and output is amazing and the battery life is the best that I have seen. I have shot two weddings and a senior shoot on one charge and I still have 25% left. I use two with Magmods mag box and it is as powerful as a studio strobe. More than enough power to light a large group for a group photo

This strove is great. Portable and powerful.

This strobe is awesome! It offers very high power for its size. It is extremely portable. The battery lasts forever. If you will work in the sun but if you are trying to overpower the sun for an entire shoot the larger versions would be better since it has to work harder for that use. If you are using it outside without the sun in the picture then it will work just fine. If you are using High-Speed Sync in the sunlight then the larger AD600 will serve you better. Otherwise, this one is enough for all professional uses.

Question & Answer

Question :

Did you find the price difference worth it to buy the ad200 pro instead of the ad200? why?

Answer :

I did. More color consistency.

Question :

Do you have to dump power?

Answer :

I USE VARIOUS POWER SETTINGS DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PICTURE I TAKE AND THE LIGHTING

Question :

Does this need an adapter to attach modifiers?

Answer :

I'm not sure if it would be possible to attach a modifier without an adapter. I purchased the Godox S-type Bracket Bowens Mount Holder for $17.99, from Amazon. I just checked and the price has dropped to $16.99. This holds the AD200 Pro firmly, and makes it easy to attach a soft box or umbrella, etc.

Question :

can this get wet?

Answer :

No, Godox products are not weather sealed.

Question :

Is this compatible with the Nikon D800?

Answer :

Yes it is. You need to purchase the (Godox X-Pro N) as a transmitter and the AD200 will receive and be controlled by it automatically.

Question :

Is anyone using this for real estate? If so, what's been your experience?

Answer :

Sorry, I am not in real estate, but I use this flash very effectively indoors, combining it with natural light in portraiture and other photography.

Question :

Would this work on my canon eos 600d?

Answer :

It should, provided you have the proper Godox command trigger for Canon (XPro C, X1T-C)

Question :

How do you find the instructions on how to sync this with the godox x trigger?

Answer :

It should automatically sync if the flash and trigger are on the same channel.

Question :

Can I use it with a Sony a6300?

Answer :

You should be able to use the AD200Pro with any camera compatible with a Godox trigger that is, in turn, compatible with the Sony a6300. It looks like this GODOX Xpro-S for Sony would do the trick. Amazon sells it here:
The Godox trigger mounts in your a6300's hot shoe, and it talks to the AD200Pro, which has a built-in receiver.

Question :

What is diff from this and older model?

Answer :

there are some improvements for the 2nd version.
