Great quality & versatile for videographers/photographers
I have used this wand for around a month now on various photo & video shoots & have been very happy with it. I already have Sutefoto LED lights so I know their quality is good. The power, build quality & size are great. I’ve worked with similar lights in the past but what sets this apart from the others out there is that it is a double sided light, one side is a CCT light with 2500K - 8500K color temp & the other side has an RGB light. So you can just change it on the fly. It also comes with a custom diffusion which you can remove and use on either side of the light. It’s very easy to use and the OLED menu is very user friendly.
After over 10 years of using traditional film & photography lights the one thing that was always a bother was setting everything up, lights, stands, power cords, gels, diffusion, etc... This light wand eliminates a lot of that extra equipment if you want to stay nimble. This is great especially if you are doing smaller shoots or on locations where there's no power sources. I also find this is a great addition to my current light kit. It’s pretty versatile given that you can use it as a back light but powerful enough to use as a keylight or even light up your background, depending on your shoot.
It comes with a shoulder strapped carrying case so its easy to take with you. I do a lot of film/video shoots and have started taking this with me on location scouts. I just take a camera & this light, place it standing up right on the ground, change colour if needed and take some test shots. I never used to take lights with me on location scouts but this light to carry, quick to set up & is so easy to use.
I’ve also been playing around with the many effects this light comes with. I had used the “Fire Truck” effect for a hallway scene in a short film because we wanted to create a danger alert light & it lit up the whole hallway & looked great. I have also played around with light writing and light trails for photos with long exposures and this really works great for that.
So far this light matches the good quality I have come to expect with Sutefoto. It’s served me well for video & photo shoots. I attached some test shots I took with this light & plan on updating this review with a video review soon.

UPDATE: The company reached out to me. They wanted to know my experience, they listened., which was nice, then they asked if they could make it right. The person I spoke with was very confident that the light that I had ordered was not indicative of their product but was a defective unit. They were confident enough about their lights to get me a new one, even though it was behind the normal exchange/return window. The new light they sent me has made it past 2 charging cycles at this point and works brightly, beautifully, and impressively. The one I previously ordered that stopped working must have been a fluke, and of note is how great it worked in its function aside from what was most likely a bad internal battery component. The light is impressive. Don’t hesitate to get a couple of these for your production they’ll add to your production value.
Original review: I loved it, it was exactly what I wanted. I mean it this thing was underrated... but after using it twice it stopped charging. I could plug it in and the battery meter would fill, but never actually charge, the minute I unplugged it it wasn’t working. I had to ask for a refund from amazon and these aren’t available for an exchange, so I’m pretty bummed all in all. Highly Versatile Tool for Cinematography!
NO FLICKER PROBLEMS IN VIDEOS: Firstly, when shooting videos, the Sutefoto wand light does not flicker or have any horizontal bands. LED lights at lower prices flicker and have horizontal bands in videos. On some cameras, you can slow your shutter speed to avoid the flicker and horizontal bands of less expensive lights, but a slower shutter speed will lower the production value. Luckily, you can shoot at very fast shutter speeds and this light will not flicker in the video.
GREAT CONTROLS: This light does not depend on a cell phone app to control it as LED wash lights do at lower price points. The controls are easy to understand and use.
Durable: This Sutefoto wand light is solid, heavy, and durable. It clearly doesn't feel cheap when you hold it. The power cord plugs into it with a snug fit. I own an electronic drum pad that has a flimsy connection when plugging in the power cord and I always worry if the connection port will break. This Sutefoto wand light is the opposite. SIZE: This Sutefoto wand light is large enough to be somewhat of a soft light source (especially if you buy more than 1 of these Sutefoto wand lights and use them together). If I hold the Sutefoto wand light above my wrist and sideways, it doesn't cast noticeable shadows below my wrist. But the size is also small enough to be very easy to store and carry! DIMMABLE: This Sutefoto wand light is dimmable. This means you can gradually adjust the brightness from dim to very bright. Being dimmable is very important for several reasons. On the other hand, if your subject is brightly lit and over-exposed, then you'll probably want to brighten up your background a lot. Another example is using this light as a practical. A practical is a light that shows up in frame, usually gives depth to your shot, and generally looks cool. For example, a Christmas light in the background of your video is a practical. Similar to a Christmas light, the Sutefoto wand light can be made very dim and show up in your background to decorate.
COLOR TEMPERATURE: This wand has a great range to adjust color temperature (measured in Kelvin units). A high color temperature is white like the Sun. Suppose you are filming a subject (e.g. person) indoors and your subject is next to a house window. You can set your Sutefoto wand light to a high color temperature like the Sun's color, hide your Sutefoto wand light out of the camera frame near the window, and it will look like the extra light is coming from the windows. Conversely, a low color temperature will match the yellowish-white color of Tungsten lights. You can show an indoors Tungsten light in the camera frame, set your Sutefoto wand light to a lower color temperature, and hide the Sutefoto wand light out of the camera frame. By doing that, it will look like the light from your Sutefoto wand light is coming from the Tungsten light.
CINEMATIC ANIMATION MODES: There are various animated modes. My absolute favorite mode is candlelight mode! It has the color temperature of a candle (more yellowish light than pure white light) but it also flickers and fades just like the flame of a candle. Other modes include police light animations, ambulance light animations, and strobe light animations. Of course, the police mode can imitate a police car in a movie, but the other modes have many possibilities. For example, imagine you are shooting a short movie where one of the characters is a celebrity. The Sutefoto wand light can be put on strobe light mode to bounce flashes off of the character and make it look like the paparazzi is taking photos of the character.
POWER SOURCE VERSATILITY: This Sutefoto wand light can operate off of battery power or wall outlet power. The wall outlet power allows this light to go beyond filmmaking and be used as a wash light for weddings and live events. It can be used to decorate the stage background for bands. It can be used to decorate your background in YouTube videos, Zoom conference videos, video testimonials, and more.

Great compact light to help in a variety of studio and fun situations
So one of the best features of this light is the tripod mount. If you do anything with studio space, for either photography or videography- the ability to pop this on a tripod and direct the light so easily is a welcome feature. It has modes to cover the spectrum of white light, as well as RGB mode to pick any color you want. There are also scenes that could be useful as a sort of background lighting in a video scene (think, police lights from outside the window in a house, or lightning) - my kids wanted to try some light painting photography- which presents it's own challenge. But we spent about 45 minutes to an hour just experimenting with the light want and the different modes to see what kind of creative still images we could create.
The ONE feature I wish this light had- it will (like many RGB products) go though an RGB mode where it goes from one color to the next. There is a fast and slow mode. But it's a hard switch from color to color. I like the more gradual fade from color to color I've seen with some of my RGB strips or smart bulbs. But those also can't be charged by battery, taken outside, and mounted on a tripod-- so it's all in the tradeoffs.
I even took this light to an outdoor covid-safe poker night, we we hung it in the corner and put it on candle mode. It added some nice ambiance to the evening- and there was plenty of batter left over at the end.
In our home studio- this makes a great way to add some back light when needed- and the super slim profile makes it every easy to hide just out of frame, without taking up much space of the studio floor.
Overall- lots of fun to play with- and has tremendous battery life. I've heard it's best to NOT use it while plugged in- but the situations I've wanted this light for have not required 24x7 lighting situations, so it was easy to use it, and still have battery left to spare. For both fun and creative uses, as well as practical studio lighting- this light wand is a welcome addition to my stack of lighting gear.

These are, so far, solid lights. The only flaw, if you could call it that, is that on one of them, the light tube isn't 100% straight. It curves a little going up toward the top. That doesn't inhibit its function though. The light adjustment system takes a bit of getting used to, but it's not unlike the adjustment options one finds on Lumecube's smaller panel lights. I like general construction and the OLED displays are fairly bright and easy to read in all the lighting conditions I've used them in, so far. They aren't too long to be unwieldy and they're not too short to be of limited versatility. They're mountable and wieldable for light painting. Durability takes the test of time and I haven't had them long enough, or used them long enough to be able to comment on that. I'll update if I have anything further to say.
