Hoya HMC UV/IR Digital Multi-Coated Slim Frame Glass Filter
I am using this on my digital with a built-in zoom. I use UV filters to protect the lens - had never used a UV/IR filter before, and I was a bit concerned about its effect when I realized it has slight color reflections in light. However, it is working very well. It certainly hasn't degraded my photos, and I would say it's probably improved them. It's a high quality filter. I recommend it.

This IR cut filter eliminated the magenta tone on the GoPro camera with a modified lens system I hacked together. The original GoPro lens must have had a built in IR cut. Colors are normal again wit this filter.

Question & Answer
Question :
Does some one knows the spectrum or transmission curve of this filter?
Answer :
I have not seen a curve. I've gotten decent color rending from sea level to the visitor's center on Mauna Kea at 9000 feet where one might expect more UV.
Question :
Will this filter normalize a Full spectrum converted camera?
Answer :
I've tried it on one, it somewhat helped but the colors were still kind of wonky, so not fully I would say. I dont know if it was just my camera or if it was the filter.
Question :
Does this filter have front threads to except screw on hoods or filter stacking
Answer :
Yes, this filter does have front threads for attaching additional 58mm size accessories.
Question :
Does this filter adapts perfectly on Nikon 50mm lens? (lens cap has 58mm - model LC-58)
Answer :
The filter will work on a Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens
Question :
Is a transmission curve available?
Answer :
Hello. You can find the transmission curve that Hoya provides here at:

Question :
Has anybody else run across issues with the filter threads not lining up with that of a lens or strep-up ring?
Answer :
I had only the experience using the filter on my zoom lens for my Nikon d700 and it worked perfectly.
It was the filter recommended to me from a pro shop.
Question :
Will this filter fit a nikon coolpix p900 camera? Any rings required for fit?
Answer :
The answer should be in the camera Manuel. If you don't have one, you should be able to look one up on the Nikon website
Question :
Are you using this as a everyday filter or does the ir make a whitish infrared photo (probably have to convert a camera for that??)
Answer :
I was using mine every day, but primarily for sunrise and sunset over water. The filter reduces the noise on reflected light on choppy waves, much sharper. No problems at all as an all around filter. Sadly, it died last night as it made contact with a large metal object, so I'm in the market for another. In its sudden and unexpected demise it server the other purpose for keeping a Skylight/UV filter on your lens, it spared the primary damage - $100 vs $700. Would you buy this filter again - ya betcha, baby.
Question :
Will this fit a 18-55 mm lens or do I need a 52 mm filter?
Answer :
Hello. It depends on what brand lens you have. The Canon EF-S 18-55mm has 58mm front filter threads, whereas the Nikon 18-55mm has 52mm. In either case all you need to do is look at the front of the lens and close to the lens's focal length will be a small circle with a line through it, which represents the diameter of the lens's filter threads.
