Another fantastic ART lens
I am a professional photographer and this lens is an excellent prime lens to have in your bag. Wish SIGMA had the 24mm available for SONY E mount but this lens definitely fulfilled its purpose. Image remains sharp around edges, great optics, keeps up, and amaaaazing in low light. The only thing I have to say is there is an issue with the lens cover staying put. Other than that no complaints.

Great Quality Lens and Photo Quality
I purchased this lens kit for my Sony a6500. I already had the Sony 35mm lens, but wasn’t happy with the color reproduction and wanted another stop of larger aperture for low light. I watched many videos comparing the lens and the differences seemed very minor. In testing the lenses I preferred the color reproduction of the Sigma. The colors are more warm and accurate. The Sony is a cooler tone and slightly darker. My biggest concern was losing phase detection auto focus, but the Sigma is very fast at focusing. For video, it finds focus quickly and locks on well. Because I have the a6500, losing the stabilization in the lens was not an issue. When manually focusing, the ring on the Sigma is much easier to grasp and adjust without slipping. My only complaint is with the Sigma there is some barrel distortion. You don’t notice it with the Sony because of the built-in lens correction. This can be fixed in post, but still an extra step to do.
Build quality is exceptional. The lens is heavier and bigger than the Sony, but it isn’t a big deal for me. You feel like you’re using a great quality product with the Sigma.

I know everyone uses the phrase “must-have”, but this is exactly one of those things.
Until I purchased this lens, I was very dissatisfied with my new Sony a 6300. I have the kit lens, 16 to 50. I’ve done several photo shoots with it, assuming that the OSS, or image stabilization would help out tremendously. I was totally wrong. When I got the Sigma 30 1.4, I was elated. It literally made me want to shoot more photos. When you get the background separation when using a fast lens, It makes all the difference in the world. Your photos instantly look but more artistic and professional. I just hated my Sony until I got a good lens on it. And while this lens is inexpensive, DXOMark rates it as one of the sharpest for the Alpha series. I know everyone uses the phrase “must-have”, but this is exactly one of those things.

Really nice budget lens for Sony E Mount
I tested this lens on a Sony a6000, the attached photos are unedited. I had been looking for a medium range lens to round out my standard array of prime lenses. Having used the Sigma 30mm I'd have to say I'm very happy with the purchase.
The focal length and wide aperture provide a lot of flexibility for all types of shoots, ranging from portraits to landscapes. Seems to work well in bright light as well as low light situations, although I haven't tested the latter extensively. The lens is sharp on-center with limited falloff toward the edges. I haven't noticed any vignetting or color casting. There is a bit of chromatic aberration on bright reflections, but much less than on my Sony 50mm f1.8. The auto focus also works quickly and I'm satisfied with the construction of the lens. This kit with the added accessories is also nice, especially the inclusion of a couple filters of surprising quality. I've been using the polarizing filter quite a bit.
There are a few negatives, but certainly nothing that would prevent me from buying this lens again. This lens can get very, very sharp with manual focus but AF leaves a bit of sharpness on the table, which I find a little annoying. Also, the colors aren't the most vibrant and I end up doing quite a bit of retouching.

Lens includes tons of goodies. All are useful.
If you are considering to buy this lens, buy this lens with kit instead. It's the same price as the lens only from other sellers but this one has tons of freebies. The free stuffs are mostly of good quality. Only the mini tripod and the lens wipes are the poor quality included in the kit. The monopod and the backpack are above average quality materials and great craftsmanship that I couldn't believe it when I received the package that they are actually freebies. The filters and the remote are very useful as well.

Great lens, deffective items on bundle. - Excellent customer service (Updated review)
I know this is a great lens, that's why I bought it. I received it some time ago and I was pretty excited to get the whole bundle. I was looking for the lens but it's always nice to receive the extras. It took me some time to get to try everything out and to my surprise, one of the items I really looking forward to use with the lens was the ND filter that came in the set. To my surprise, it's a defective ND filter that is useless. The coating on the filter is irregular and it renders the photos useless giving them an irregular purple flare. I have used ND filters before and the photos can be color corrected, though in this case, its just a defect on the filter. Its a shame to pay some extra money and get items which don't meet the quality of the lens.

This is an update after solving the issue with Digital Goja.
I was annoyed about the fact that I had received a defective item which, for me, is very helpful in my workflow, and I had no expectations whatsoever of a response from Digital Goja. But this time the seller proved me wrong... I will for sure continue to do business with them. After stating I had received a defective item, I received a partial refund which was done without me even doing anything (or even asking). It’s good to know that as a customer I’m backed up a 100%. It was a true gesture of professionalism and proactiveness. A true surprise! I thank Digital Goja and congratulate you for their amazing customer care and for making this experience less difficult to cope with.

Hands down, one of my favorite purchases.
I have been photographing for 4 years now as a hobby and sometimes paid activity. I have shot on Canons, Nikons, and now have moved to Sony. I had mated a Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 to my Alpha series camera but found that I needed autofocus in my line of work. I had the same troubles that everyone else had, do I purchase a 30/35mm or a 50/55mm? I decided to go with the 30/35mm choice, Sony typically has a 1.5x crop sensor on their mirrorless crop series, and I decided to go with the 30mm for a 45mm equivalent.
I did extensive research on if I should purchase the Sigma 30mm or Native Sony 35mm. I ended up taking the leap for the Sigma and, W O W.
This lens is sharp, I mean, really sharp. With f/1.2, you're going to expect that, I was ready for sharp portraits and this delivers. In my research I found that the Sony and Sigma both share the same amount of sharpness, within about 5%. However, the Sigma allows the beautiful low light ability of the f/1.2, shooting inside is easy. The lens itself is of great Sigma quality, though, one thing that is a bit interesting is that this Sigma lens does not come with a padded insert in the package itself, no problem though, the packaging was perfect. The lens is larger than the Native Sony lens, but I love the hand feel, the large rubber focus ring is great to hold, spins with just the right amount of resistance, and looks great. The lens hood is not some cheap plastic knockoff, it is Sigma branded and looks amazing, it is also reversible. You can view all sorts of reviews on this lens online, and I'm sure that you have been doing your research if you are reading this review. But let me tell you about what really sets this package apart:
For $10 more, you are getting so much with this travel package. I am a big fan of Altura's products, and nothing has changed with this package. The backpack is nice, small, easy to carry around. I have a photo bag already but plan to keep this one due to its travel size, it fits my mirrorless perfect with just enough gear for a hike! The filters, "meh", I don't ever use filters, so I can't honestly tell you about them. The pistol tripod is neat, and the 67" monopod is quality - metal with rubber feet and adjustable spike on the bottom. You honestly can't beat spending the extra $10 from the lens only price to pick up all these extra goodies. This is not the first time I've purchased from Digital Goja/Altura and will not be the last. I am very content with the purchase and price, and was ecstatic to see Sigma offers a 1 year warranty.
So far, no complaints with the lens for photos. The autofocus is SLIGHTLY loud, it's not as bad as my old Canon lenses, but if you don't have an external mic, chances are you will pick it up. I haven't had any focus hunting on the lens, so far it picks up what I want either first, second, or maybe third if we are talking small objects. This is a great lens, if you choose to pick it up, spend the extra few bucks and get this travel pack, you won't regret it.

Amazing Lenz, Awesome Extras
If you have a Sony a series THIS IS THE FIRST LENS YOU SHOULD GET! I've been daily driving this lenz for about 8 months and I can happily say it was the best purchase I've made for my Sony a6300. The extras like the senor cleaner and the portable bag I've been using daily as well, especially the bag. For the extra $20-30 you spend on this kit is worth it.
Build:
-Mostly metal with some plastic
-Very sturdy
Pros:
-Really good low light performance
-High sharpness and detail
-Quick auto focus
-Small form factor
Cons:
-Minor but noticeable chromatic aberration at low aperture (between 1.4-2.2f-stop(s))
-Noticeable lenz distortion
Keep in mind both of these cons can be completely removed in lightroom
In the photography world I'm a total beginner but I can tell you from my experience this is a solid lenz especially for the price.

Sigma 30mm F1.4 Contemporay DC ND Lens for Sony E mount.
Its a sharp lens, used on a Sony a6500. It could be used to good effect on a Sony a7r11 in crop mode, there would be enough resolution left for it to work well on that camera, I have a sony a7s11, in crop mode it would be a bit short. It has good bokeh, is fast enough to help the a6500 out in low light. Now for extreme low light stills... At night its not going to be a poor mans extreme light sponge... Hand held in a setting without a lot of city light, in nature, without OSS, its ok with the IS in the a6500. On a tripod, short exposures, its sharpness wide open is golden. Stopped down a stop, even better. It is cost effective, I have a 55mm 1.8 Zeiss and its comparable, 30mm is not as sharp wide open, but CLOSE, on the a6500, its very nice. The Zeiss 55 stays on my full frame, except for old manual glass I like. The 30mm 1.4 is the prime I use on the a6500. Reviews about it being a lot of bang for the buck are accurate.

but it is a great upgrade from the kit lens (I was never really ...
I've only used this lens for a couple of days, but it is a great upgrade from the kit lens (I was never really happy with the images from the kit lens) for my Sony A6300 camera . I have gotten used to better lenses for my Nikon, but this is my first upgrade for the Sony A6300. The Sigma 30mm focal length is good, and the f1.4 allows so much more ability to shoot in lower light and at a lower ISO, along with a greater depth of field. The lens will probably stay on my camera the majority of the time.
The accessory kit was bonus, but since I already had many of the accessories (can someone say an overload of camera bags?), but I'm sure that I will use the lens bag, the blower to clean the camera's sensor during lens changes, and the circular polarizer and the neutral density filters from the filter set, along with the front and rear lens caps and lens hood that came with the lens.
Question & Answer
Question :
How does this compare with sony sel35f18 35mm f/1.8 prime fixed lens? in terms of street photography, low light, and sharpness? thanks!
Answer :
I had both because I couldn't decide as a new photographer. At first they pretty much looked the same to me. One was slightly wider in terms of focal length, & one was a tad closer and more intimate so I kept both. Fast forward about 8 months later I finally sold the Sony 35mm F/1.8 (APS-C) because I found myself never taking the Sony anymore. At first I only used the Sony because of it's size, with a winter jacket it was pocketable which I loved. Long story short, the more I was shooting pictures and traveling, editing photos wether in Lightroom or Luminar 3 (now 4), I couldn't believe how different these two lenses are.
The Sigma just blows the Sony away in terms of everything. Image quality, sharpness, bokeh, colors, subject separation at the same F stop is much better on the Sigma which is surprising because it's a shorter focal length. The Sigma wide open is even sharper than the Sony stopped down to F/2.8!
When something is that good I don't even care about the awesome size of Sony anymore. Plus, it's not like the Sigma 30mm is huge, it's still compact and light enough (I mean, we're APSC users, not full framers)!
The Sigma F/1.4 will help a lot (shooting higher shutter speeds, or even 2/3 to 1 full stop lower ISO!) vs Sony's F/1.8 with OSS btw. I would go with the Sigma even if your camera doesn't have IBIS (In-body Image Stabilization).
I think if you're a beginner and you're shooting stills (pictures), then it is hard to kinda tell between the two just like I once did. But for the enthusiast, pro, or intermediate shooter this is a no brainer and go for the Sigma.
Also, if you're a beginner you should be buying the cheaper lens anyway.
The only reason I can see why anyone would get the Sony f1.8 is if they're only doing casual video and their camera doesn't have IBIS, therefore the OSS would help. However, 35mm on APSC is not wide enough for me for video. If you're doing video pro work, wether it's for a company or recording high school football games every Friday then both OSS and IBIS is very poor for daily/weekly video shooting, I would get a gimble instead, and in which case go get the Sigma over the Sony. Back to that Sigma again! lol
Yes, I know this is a 4 year old question :)
Question :
Will this work with a sony a7s?
Answer :
This lens is designed for Aplha 6000, 6300, 6500 and similar cropped sensor cameras. A7s is a full size camera. The answer is no.
Question :
What size ND Filter would fit with this lens?
Answer :
52 mm . This is listed in the product description as it comes with 52 mm ND filters
Question :
Can i use this for sony a7iii?
Answer :
You can, a tip I learned is using the lens in full frame mode to utilize the maximum pixels, then crop later. If you use aps-c mode, the pixel count goes down.
Question :
Is the autofocus loud?
Answer :
No. You can just barely hear it in a very quiet setting, but it's definitely not loud at all. Usually just a very tiny, quick "zt". Very nice lens.
Question :
Hello. will this lens work well with a sony nex 6 and will the warranty be covered in other countries like the philippines? thanks!
Answer :
I don't know. If nex 6 work with e mount lens, the sigma 30 lens will feet your camera.
Question :
Does this lens have auto focus ?
Answer :
Yes it has auto focus, manual too
Question :
How would this lens do for indoor volleyball pictures? I would be in a gym in the bleachers. Thanks!
Answer :
This will largely depend on your camera
If your camera has in body stabilization (Sony a6300, A7rIII etc.) this might be fine
However without in body stabilization you would need to find a lens with built in stabilization
This is a fantastic lens and 35 is a great focal length to have but for sports I would suggest something that does not require you to zoom on your feet, so something like a zoom lens (24-70mm) with built in stabilization is what you want
Question :
This lens will work with sony a7iii?
Answer :
It will work on the a7iii but only in crop mode or “super 35mm” mode. If u take it off that mode it will have a heavy vignette.
Question :
Can this be used on the a7r iv?
Answer :
This lens will work, but will not take advantage of the full frame sensor on the A7. The camera will have to be set to crop-sensor mode.
