The LED light ring, helped me get rid of lines in my camera picture due to the 80 LEd light ring that I returned to AMscope.

Much better than the 80 LED ring from AmScope, and much cheaper. Some complained about the ring being made from plastic, and yes it feels cheap, but then it is cheap. The screws that tighten it to your scope go onto the black ring you see in the picture. That ring must fit your scope, or you will have trouble getting this LED light ring to hold one. The screws can't be tightened very much, because you will break the plastic that they are threaded into. That black ring has a groove cut out around the edge, so you only have to tighten the ring so the screws are in the grooves, they don't need to be very tight to hold on. So it might be the people who could not use the ring, or did not try to use the ring that had the most trouble with this light ring. The 80 LEd ring from AMScope put lines in my picture from the camera. The sad thing is that their tech support could not help me get rid of the lines, so the ring was defective, and i needed to return it. AMscope made me pay to return it, it cost me $15 to ship it back. It was heavy because of the metal control box. AMScope has some pretty shady business practices, so beware as you shop. Returning defective products should never cost the customer money to return. At AMScope, you will pay to return any defective products.

Works great. Easy to adapt to a 12V gel cell for portable use. Be aware that the center is positive, not negative as indicated on the symbol. If it does not work, switch the leads. Protected against being wrong (13V or less DC that is). I use it with a macro setup on a camera and not on a scope. The screws are long enough to easily attach to the front on my lens for hands free use.

This is an amazing addon piece of kit!

I absolutely love my lights. They make the AmScope microscope so much more useful. You can use the scope in any light condition with these lights. Being able to adjust the brightness is a very much needed feature that of course has been included. Loving my AmScope Products!

Just what the doctor ordered!

Great light! Everything worked as advertised. It does a great job and doesn't come loose. Plus, all the controls work fine.

great value, works as described

Works great on my dissecting scope. I would like an even brighter version for taking pictures (with a diffuser) but this seems to be the best at this price point.

Great lamp for the price

Great lamp for the price, dimmer control works great and I use it a lot because these leds produce pure white light and a lot of it. The brightness can be proportionately adjusted (from off to super bright) to obtain the perfect viewing conditions. I don't think I have ever had it 'wide open' but nice to know its available.

Fits Perfectly, performs perfectly

I bought this LED ring for my stereoscope, I'm using a Bausch with zoom 0.7 to 3x for my PCB rework projects. I've seen reviews before that complain about the low light intensity for 10x magnification, it may be true, for my application I'm set at 1x pretty most of the time (sometimes I go to 3x) and 100% setting is too bright

Really lights up the work

I have this bad boy mounted on my mini lathe around the spindle and it works great with adjustable brightness! Really lights up the work.

Question & Answer

Question :

Which of the AmScope stereo microscopes does this fit?

Answer :

I would recommend contacting AmScope to confirm the 1 and 7/8 inch diameter adapter ring that comes with the LED light ring is compatible with the AmScope product you are either considering or have but I would suspect AmScope would make their light ring compatible with all their stereo microscopes. My stereo microscope is quite old and the light ring works with it.

Question :

can the LED quadrents be adjusted independently forl light intensity and on/off status?

Answer :

No, all of the LED lights dim together just like a normal dimmer would. It comes with a ON/OFF switch and it can be dimmed to a virtual OFF position.

Question :

Does it have to be plugged into the wall at all times?

Answer :

Only when you want it to light up, so, yes, for it to make light it needs to be plugged in.

Question :

I understand the ring is adjustable, but each microscope brand is different – so, does it work with the nikon smz-445 zoom stereo microscope-nc?

Answer :

Lilly, I believe it will work on any stereomicroscope as long as its objective diameter does not exceed 2.5" (62.5mm), which is the inside diameter of the adjustable 144 LED Ring Light Illuminator. I hope it will work for you.

Question :

Is it waterproof

Answer :

I would not recommend immersing although I think it could get an occasional spray / wipe down....

Question :

Will it work with amscope sw-3t24z?

Answer :

Hello,
Yes, this is compatible with the SW-3T24Z.
Thank you for your question,

Question :

can you use this for normal camera photography?

Answer :

I don't see why you couldn't mount it to a tripod...or maybe even your camera...and use it for photography. It gives off a nice clean light, and you can adjust the brightness to suit your needs.

Question :

I need to capture license plates at night. my hd camera can see license plate during the day very clearly. will this help at night?

Answer :

Doubtful. This is a great light for my microscope, but it may be underpowered for any significant distance such as your application. That being said, I just took mine outside (in the dark) and I could read (Mk1 eyeball) the plates on my car at 60 feet or so. So it may work if you don't expect too much. Many CCD cameras are sensitive in the near IR wavelength and you may be better off (and Stealthier) with an IR led setup. We use a lot of AG Cams with IR illuminators and the ability to read a plate is non-existent. Part of the problem is the plates are reflective and the auto gain of a camera will drive the signal up until 20% of the video is white. That itty bitty plate will likely bloom out unless you can zoom in a bit. good luck.

Question :

I have an Amscope se306e-p20 not seeing anything that would confirm it would work with my scope. Does anyone know if it might work for my scope?

Answer :

I have a Nikon SMZ-1B and this illuminator works great with it. As long as the outside diameter of your scope where the illuminator attaches is somewhere between 35 and 63 millimeters, this illuminator should work just fine. I looked at some Amscopes that may be similar to yours on their website, though (couldn't find the exact model you mentioned) and it appears that the location where the illuminator would attach is conical in shape on the models I saw. That shape likely wouldn't allow the illuminator to attach reliably with your scope. You may be able to modify the illuminator or your scope to adapt it, but I can no guarantee whether or not it would work very well.

Question :

My led light causes horizontal lines when the light is dimmed, and the lines only disappear when i make it bright. is this right?

Answer :

Are you using a video camera? The power supply to the light is run off a wall wart at 60hz. You cannot see this with your eye, but your camera can if out of sync with it. I run my light using a 12V gel cell that I adapted. No AC hum, no horizontal lines with any camera. The gel cell is also nice for field work. Great for macro work. On a still camera you should not see any lines. If you do, something is wrong.
