Great way to add some color outdoors

We have been using these for our holiday lighting. We have outdoor LED lighting. With these gels, I cut circles out and simply place them on my landscape spot lights. I usually cut them just a little larger than the spotlight so I can simply shove them in the light without any need for adhesive. I light up for halloween and Christmas so tend to stick with Red, Green, Orange and Purple. They do last the entire holiday period. Even though I have LED lights which dont give off much heat there is some distortion and color lose by the end of the holiday period (I ssually have them up for 30 days). I would not use these with halogen lightbulbs, they will melt.

Classroom use

I use these with students who have reading difficulties. They are heavy duty and sturdy. They work well and should last a long time.

Used with one brightness Led Bulb produced

Let me be clear, I used these gels with ONE the BRIGHTEST LED BULBS THAT IS PRODUCED. THE “SANSI A21 22W (250-200Watt Equivalent) Omni-Directional Ceramic LED Light Bulbs–3000 lumens, 5000K Daylight, CRI 80+, E26 Medium Screw I used this bulb in on a street Acorn light fixture. That I was using inside...OhMy! ....way to bright and white....I then ordered these color correction sheets/gels.
many variations of tints I was able to use depending on mood... didn’t overheat as long as there is an opening in the top..And
believe me this bulb on full brightness will develop intense warmth|heat.

Thicker & Rigid, But Good

These are thicker than I was expecting. Thought they were more like thin cellophane gels based on the description, but they're actually quite thick & rigid. Be sure to remove the protective coating (tape works best) and these are nice, firm filters.

Worked for turning down the brightness on an annoying LED

I have a space heater that I use at night. It has a bright green LED that is very annoying. I cut the red sheet using a paper cutter (paper cutter worked great), and covered the bright green LED. The color is much nicer and subdued.

No idea how this works with lighting, but for taming an annoying LED, works great (you can add more layers if needed)

Not bad!

Used these in some basement ceiling lights and a glass display case. The colors are way more subtle than you'd think, which personally is what I was hoping. If you're looking for more dramatic color, however, i'd go another direction. For me, this was perfect.

Great for warming up cool LEDs

I bought these mainly for the yellow and orange colors. In an attempt to warm up and very cold, stark LED light i had purchased. I ended up using the orange one and it warmed up the light perfectly. Much more home-y and much, much less operating room-y.

reasonable choice for Rheinberg filter material

I used this product for a non-standard purpose, making Rheinberg filters (circular blanks 27mm diameter).
The material is thick enough to handle without falling apart (unlike cellophane), and thin enough so that the hollow punch can make blanks. The sheets are larger than needed for my purpose. More color variety would have been good.

Nice gels and great price.

I used this product over a display that was too bright with a white background. I had a selection of colors to choose from. The gels are nice and clear and worked exactly the way I needed.

Question & Answer

Question :

If left over a light for a long period of time (not touching) will they melt or withstand heat?

Answer :

I left this filter on constantly for a 4 hour shoot, where the clamp pinched the gel filter it left a small mark but did not melt.

Question :

How thick is the material?

Answer :

These sheets are 0.011” thick (without the protective films on both sides)

Question :

Do these have good clarity & low-distirtion when looking through? I want to use it for changing the color of a screen, so it needs to be very clear.

Answer :

Yes, they are pretty clear. Remember to remove the protective film first. I don't use them for photography, I'm an artist and sometimes look at a scene or reference photo through a red or blue filter to better compose the lights and darks of a painting. Hope this helps.

Question :

Would this product work with taking pictures of clothing with an ipad mini, to get the true colors! Having an issue with greens, blues, and purples!

Answer :

No, they would not. These are meant to help add tints and tones to light not take them away. If you're having lighting troubles you'll need to find a way to white balance the camera on your ipad so that you do get the true colors of the photos you're taking.

Question :

Would this help dim or does this just change color?

Answer :

We used it to dim bright white numbers on an air conditioner panel. (It did take a few layers, though, to get it to the dimness that we wanted).

Question :

Can anyone tell me if the pink in this set is a bright, neon pink?

Answer :

Doesn't look neon to me. Looks like a medium shade of pink...not pastel.

Question :

Can you use it to change the color on keypad on Motorola razr v3 phone

Answer :

I don't think so, they aren't intended for that purpose. The gel filter sheets are fairly thick, at least as thick as card stock, and not flexible enough for your keys to respond through the filter. Plus, they aren't sticky, so not sure how you would attach it to your keypad. I believe they are intended as filters for photography, although I use them as a an aid in composing my art work.

Question :

Are these thick or thin like paper? Can these be laminated?

Answer :

Three times as thick as letter siz paper. Thhere is a thin film on one side that can be liftes off with scotch tape.

Question :

Does the violet/purple produce a UV blacklight effect where fluorescent things glow?

Answer :

No is doesn’t.

Question :

Can the red and blue be used to distinguish red and blue words like how 3d glasses work?

Answer :

Hello. No, they can't. Thanks.
