Very high quality lightweight monopod.

I bought this for the shorter and lighter size and am very pleased. I already had a Manfrotto 679 monopod that is very good but it is a minimum of 24 inches long where the Sirui is 15 inches long and, of course, lighter in weight. I use both with a Manfrotto 3229 tilting head which I understand has been replaced by a newer model. The Manfrotto pod is quicker with only three sections and it is very sturdy for support in stream crossings or such but the Sirui is also very smooth to use and easier to carry and it goes in my backpack. Both are great choices but different.

A sturdy, lightweight and compact monopod....don't think about it, just buy it

I have been looking forever for a monopod. The prices vary widely from aluminum to carbon fiber. There are monopods with feet and the ones without feet. I think personally the feet add unnecessary weight. If you get a sturdy tripod it won't be the same as having feet to be able to place it down on the ground but the weight difference is significant.

The monopod comes with a hand strap with a sort of cheap compass. I have heard it doesn't work well but I checked it out against the compass on my iPhone and if you hold it flat on your finger it is accurate. The hand strap comes off if you choose to have it less bulky although it doesn't make it bulky enough you'd want to remove it.

The monopod comes in 5 sections. Most of the time, at least in the aluminum, the 5 section monopod starts to have some give to it when you have it fully open. This carbon tripod does not have that problem. This thing is very solid. The foot comes with a retractable spike. Don't know what would happen if you have to replace the rubber foot but I haven't heard anyone complain their rubber foot wears out. Think you would have to use this every day for quite a while before it would wear down.

Btw here are the specs:Model:P-326
Material: Carbon Fiber
Sections: 6
Tube Max Dia: 32mm/1.3inch
Tube Min Dia: 16mm/0.6inch
Max Hgt: 1560mm/61.4inch
Min Hgt: 395mm/15.6inch
Weight: 0.4kg/0.9lb
Load: 10kg/22lb

At 15.6" fully closed and less than 1 lb this tripod hits all the things on my checklist. I'm looking for a ball head a bit down the road or I could use it with the camera attached directly to the monopod. You do have a choice of a tilt ball head which gives you more control on the monopod since it has only one lever and it doesn't pan. You could also use a regular ball head if you find one with only one lever. If you have two many levers you'll be trying to adjust the ball head and the monopod will become harder to handle.

Watching the reviews on youtube.com a few people mentioned that the newer models have a two piece tab if you pull it out all the way. The older models evidently have a one piece tab that makes it much easier to remove and reapply it in case you have to take the monopod out and clean it. Also the newer models the neoprene grip is not tightly glued and it does have some play in it. Whether this is an older model or an even newer model than they reviewed this particular monopod I received does have the one piece tab.

The neoprene hand grip is a nice little touch though. For aluminum monopods and tripods this is helpful when it's cold. For carbon fiber monopods it does hold a bit of the cold but not as much as aluminum. Nice feature to have just in case.

The rubber grips to unscrew are very easy to handle. You could easily get your whole hand around them and turn them all at once. The carbon fiber legs move very easily.

My one wish is that the monopod came with a ball head. I realize though it would add to the price.

For the price and what this monopod offers it's pretty much a no brainer to purchase this.

High Quality and Very Useful

I just got a very nice new Vanguard tripod, but decided I needed a monopod for more flexible stabilization when doing telephone shots with my new Nikon P900 super zoom. After reading a LOT of reviews, I decided to try this one and it is is working out beautifully. It's very high quality construction and easily expands or closes up quite small. Nice foam grip at the top, and just overall very nicely built and easy to use. I splurged on the carbon fiber because I wanted it to be light, and it is. I got the Manfrotto 234 RC head so I could tilt the camera on one plane only, and it's working out great for moon shots and birds, etc.where you need to point the camera up into the sky or into the treetops. Pricey monopod, but worth it I think for its light weight and quality features. I'm using this monopod more than my more expensive tripod, although they both have their uses.

Best photo purchase I've made in a long time

I developed a tremor and more or less gave up photography 3 years ago because my pictures were too blurry at sane ISO's. I just went on a trip to Italy and just had to try something so I bought this monopod. It was the lightest and shortest (6 segment) monopod I could find. It was well made and sturdy. It has a botom tip that can be configured an a point or a soft rubber stand so you can support it on all surfaces. It has a clip that I was able to attach to a belt loop. Because it is so short, you can wear it and it doesn't get in the way. I was able to shoot pictures down to 1/30 sec and they were SHARP. Just like the good old days when I had steady hands. A few very minor complaints. You need to check every so often that it is screwed together tightly. It came loose one time and fell into the street and I had to reassemble it. Also, there is a useless strap between the belt clip and the monopod which tore when the monopod fell. I just hooked the clip directly to the ring; the cloth strap is completely unnecessary. Unless you can find, a lighter, shorter, sturdier monopod then this is the one to get. The specs were superior to much more expensive monopods from companies like Manfrotto.

Great value!

Great affordable, lightweight, sturdy monopod... Removed the wrist strap and compass, and added a quick release. Uncomplicated!
Just the right height when fully extended for my 6 foot frame. Also works well in the retracted position, held tight to my chest.
Sturdy enough to double up as a walking stick. No more excuse for blurry pictures!

I fell in love! I kept the K 20 for my Dollica ...

There is very little that one can say about a Monopod, so I will keep this brief. I really had no need for another Monopod, and have never spent $100 bucks on one. But as a professional photographer of many years I have tried many products.I recently tried the SIRUI K 20 ball head. I fell in love! I kept the K 20 for my Dollica Monopod, and ordered the K 30 ball head for my tripod. They (K 30 & K 20 ball heads) are nothing but "Precision Sweet"!

I was so impressed with this product line, that I went ahead and ordered the P-326. I have a slight back problem, so I carry a monopod with me at all times as more of a walking stick. I also ride a MT. Bike daily and use bungecords to secure my gear to the frame of my bike. Since this Monopod has a 15" retracted size it appealed to me. When it arrived I was really impressed with all aspects of it. In another review I read where it was "QUIET". And unlike other Monopods I have had, it dose not "rattle" when you are walking with it. A good thing! It is extremely light weight, and very strong. I have put a lot of my own body weight (not abusing it) on it and it has never slipped or collapsed as some others I've had. It is quick to extend to the height I want and locks into position with very little tightening of the twist locks.

Side Note: I always put a round rubber protector (Like the ones you put on the bottom of a typical walking cane) on the bottom of my Monopods (available at any hardware store) to preserve the factory installed shoe since I use this all the time, and remove it if I have the need to extent the Stainless Steel point for icy or slippery conditions. Just a bit of advice!

Like the SIRUI Ball Heads, this is without a doubt a professional piece of gear, and I believe it is one of the highest quality photo related gear I have ever used. I recommend this product line very, very highly.
Thanks, Shooter Boone.

The perfect monopod

We were looking for a monopod that was light weight and very sturdy to support Nikon D500 camera with large lens. It is exactly what we were looking for although be advised that it is not as small as some other models available and I would recommend getting the manfrotto 234RC attachment for quick release of the camera. Also the manfrotto 234 tilt head will allow you to make quick adjustments if you are doing sports photograph. The attached picture shows the size of it completely compressed with the manfrotto tilt head attached and the camera next to it for reference is a Nikon D500 with 70-200 lens. Hope this helps you.

Pleasure to use and always with me.

Mine is set up with a 30mm ballhead, and inexpensive brand. i use it as a walking stick and camera support, support for both telephoto and close up near macro in the field.

Sections are substantial. Support is firm. Adjusters work smoothly and are secure.

The rubber monopod foot can be screwed in to expose an excellent large metal spike tip. This is the best tip, by far, I have had on any monopod or tripod.

Other Sirui products I own include the lightweight T-025 tripod and the mid weight Ranger 284 tripod. I am pleased with all.

High quality -- very impressed with this

Wow, I'm amazed at what a great piece of work this is. Super lightweight, easy to extend and collapse, and very stable. It extends high enough that even a tall person can use it easily, or a normal height person standing on a rock or something. The smooth working of the extender rings is a treat, and the grip is big enough to give you a great hold on it. Definitely something I'll be using for many years to come.

Good monopod - job is simple and it does the job

Item is great for taking on a trips locally or afar. It is light and easy to carry. I use it for both my camera and my video camera. I matched this up with a Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Head Quick Release. I bought this for the flexibility it provides me vs. a normal tripod. Tripods takes time to set up, which is fine when taking serious pictures...but when I'm on the move and just want to stop for a quick second to take a picture, it does the job of keeping me pretty steady. Not as steady as a tripod but again, its philosophy of use. Took it to Disneyland, took lots of pictures that came out great. Also latched this to my video camera. Great for when trying to record a show vs. trying to hold camcorder in your hands for 10+ minutes.
Also it was great as peoples heads were in front of my view so I just raised the monopod up a little and voila...no more back of the head shots.
It was very easy to expand and collapse the monopod. Mere seconds and when I was not using it at all, I just stuck it in my backpack. Very light and compact. Good monopod for the price

There are much more expensive ones out here...but this fits the bill...just a monopod.
Buying a tripod is another story.

Cheers!

Question & Answer

Question :

There's no mention of the monopod's length when fully extended. Has anyone checked?

Answer :

61" from the mounting plate to the foot (spike not extended). I used it recently as a walking staff on a a tough hike with 2000 vertical feet of elevation change over very rough terrain. It functioned perfectly as a staff and a monopod. Bullet proof ,IMHO.

Question :

Will I need other parts?

Answer :

Yes, get the Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Head Quick Release. Hard to put in words how handy it is with monopod. I have a fancy ballhead but they are near useless on monopod. The 234RC is fairly cheap, allows on and off camera pretty fast and tilts the way you need it. Remember the monopod can also be tilted as needed along with the 234RC and often you can brace yourself against a wall or tree, etc. Ballheads of monopods are useless because the monopod is always moving in two or three axis except when you hold steady for a shot.

Question :

Does the foot of the monopod unscrew? If so, what are the threads?

Answer :

There is a rubber foot on the monopod, but if you turn the foot clockwise a metal spike is exposed for rough terrain. Counterclockwise and the spike is hidden, but the rubber foot does not screw off.

Question :

What is the max weight capacity for this monopod?

Answer :

I have used this monopod for years through multiple NFL and MLB seasons with a Canon EOS 1D body and a 400mm 2.8 lens, the older heavier model, not the newer lighter ones. I have had mine since 2014 and it has only been this year that I have started to wear our the rubber foot.

Question :

Is this comaptible with canon cameras?

Answer :

Absolutely not compatible with any camera with lenses that has weight. My 1DX with 200 f1.8, or even the lighter 400mm f2.8 II IS, the monopod flat plate comes loose with the heavy torque, and the segments cannot be adjusted while shooting unless you lift the weight on the stick. Not something you want to do when trying to record moments.

Question :

Can you get replacement parts for this monopod?

Answer :

Yes please contact SiruiUSA directly

Question :

I plan on using this with the 70-200 mm L. Can I just connect via tripod ring, or ball head?

Answer :

Sandra
You can connect with either just make sure you have the right screw size to fit either. The sirui ballhead comes with both sizes. I use my Nikon D7000 with a 300mm zoom without problems. You will love this lightweight monopod. Just be aware that because it is a twist tighten, that the threads need to be kept clean.

Question :

Cuanto mide ?

Answer :

6 sections, folded length 380mm, can be extended to be 1540mm

Question :

What is the difference between p-326 and am-326 monopods? i'm comparing the specs and they appear to be the same.

Answer :

Answer from Sirui
They are very similar but the AM models is for amazon and not the great quality.

Question :

Can we remove the spike and screw on a tripod at the base ?

Answer :

The spike recesses back into the base if you twist it. The last knob that spike is in can not be removed.
